Slight Scriabin influence, or the other way around?

SpaghettiToaster

@Charles- Valentin Alkan It's not atonal at all lol

Mr Kitrid

Scriabin's influence is apparent in most of Op. 39, which makes sense considering Rachmaninoff startet composing them the year following Scriabin's death when he organised charity concerts, where he exlusively played Scriabin, in order to help the bereaved family with funeral expenses.

Kush Groover

@Charles- Valentin Alkan fun fact- Scriabin and Rach grew up studying in the same piano studio

Sebastian-Benedict Flore

@Charles- Valentin Alkan Well, simply, Scriabinan harmony doesn't fit into the conventional parameters, definition and explanation of Western tonality. That doesn't mean it's atonality. It was completely new tonality. That's just me

Charles- Valentin Alkan

@Sebastian-Benedict Flore so what do you want to do about it? Depends entirely on the definition of the atonality.

An ''Étude'' may only be a musical piece of considerable difficulty for perfecting instrumental skills, but Rachmaninov's are as beautiful as short. This entire playlist is amazingly great.
