De Falla: Ritual Dance of Fire for PianoIwant sheet music

Chris Breemer

Not generally being a great Cziffra fan (too much of the circus artist for me), I was pleasantly surprised by his comparative restraint here. Despite the maybe slightly too fast tempo this is actually a performance in good taste and style. But a pity he - typically - could not resist pimping up the final pages with extra notes and longer runs. As if they're not exciting enough the way Falla wrote them. Interesting to hear him in Spanish music, thanks for the upload.

I discovered that Rubinstein (who practically owned this piece, if you discount Larrocha) also pimps up the closing page. Clearly this piece invites great pianists to show off a bit. Even AdL herself plays some things not in the score (though these may be authentic and/or sanctioned of course).

Oh please sir. Rubinstein's lacks dynamics. Cziffra's crescendo totally allows him own this piece.

Marco Zuccarato

Just listen to his recording of Chopin's Waltzes.

@Chris BreemerRubinstein is just too much of a showoff on this piece, he totally ignores Falla's dinamics, practically recomposes the piece. Cziffra plays it better, although noth quiet as good as Larrocha
