Simply beautiful, SVR! Rach unquestionably possessed one of the greatest techniques in history, but to my knowledge not once did he display it for its own sake. Only an artist of his stature could turn something as intentionally trivial as this piece into something so genuinely beautiful.

You can just hear how grateful he is... I'm no expert, but as someone who enjoys music, this sounds so delightful!

@Anıl It's nice to take a trip down memory lane.

I agree, it's literally scrumptious. By the way, are you still alive?

What a master! The Minute Waltz played with dynamics and perfect control.

The final descending scale at the end is wonderfully voiced, 1:49. Just beautiful.

Very soft and gentle version Rachmaninoff offers here. However, he glides through the scales like liquid throughout. Very beautiful and the silky playing leaves me only impressed. Wonderful.

I think your comment mostly applies to today's popular music. There is still art music being composed that actually engages with real-world issues and demands the participation of the audience beyond merely arousing approval. (It's worth mentioning, though, that even classical musicians have long known how to have fun, and the "Minute Waltz" is a great example of a high-class variety!)
