While musically this is sure to please fans of Righteous Jams and the aforementioned, Byrd usually employs a more gravelly, garbled bark rather than a straightforward yell. Think Kill Your Idols' Andy West, but a bit more comprehensible in Byrd's case.
What seems to be holding the record back is the band's thus underdeveloped sense of modest anthem. Set to Explode are already writing songs with a raw base in place necessary to help shift focus to the message; expansion on the other parts would likely result in a more memorable record, however, and do wonders for them overall.
Not to disspell the band, Set to Explode are definitely channeling the earlier years of their hometown in a way many are likely to believe wasn't still possible (or in the least, still relevant).
Feel The Rage
Set To Explode Lyrics

Life in the fast lane, don't know the pain
Don't ignore the problems that we face
Nowhere to run when we destroy this place!
Feel the rage- Don't take no more
Feel the rage- What will you fight for?
Feel the rage- They'll try tame you
Blank stares, it seems that no one cares
Dead feelings and apathy everywhere
Mind is clogged with what they're selling today
Creating idols that have nothing to say.
Do you feel it? We're coming after you!
The lyrics to Set To Explode's "Feel The Rage" speak about the frustration and anger towards societal issues that are often ignored or overlooked. The first verse warns the listener of the consequences of ignoring these problems and living recklessly. It emphasizes that there is "nowhere to run" when we destroy our own environment.
The chorus "Feel the rage - Don't take no more, Feel the rage - What will you fight for, Feel the rage - They'll try tame you, Feel the rage - Break right through" is a call to action to break free from the chains of apathy and to stand up for what is right. The lyrics express that the listener should feel anger and not remain complacent anymore. The second verse talks about how people often become blinded by what is popular or trendy, forgetting what truly matters. The lyrics caution against the dangerous effects of consumerism and the bland culture it produces.
Overall, the song has a strong message of defiance against a dysfunctional society and encourages the listener to take action against it. The "rage" being referred to is the passion to create change and speak out against injustice.
