Closing In
Seventh Void Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Your soul is dying now along
With your mind
You crave the missing peace
That you'll never find
Your pulse is racing and
Your time's running out
You know the room is
Closing in on you now

Yeah, it's closing in
Yeah, you're sinking

Your God's abandoned you
There's no hope in sight
You pray in silence but
You can't see the light
And now your darkest hour
You're going down
You know the room is
Closing in on you now

Yeah, it's closing in
Yeah, you're sinking

Rising out
Fallen back the sky's gone
Your body's down
Take your soul to nowhere
Rising out
Numb is all you'll ever know,

You're falling above
Rising out

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Seventh Void's song "Closing In" paint a bleak picture of a person who is losing both their mind and their soul. The opening lines suggest that the person is experiencing a spiritual and psychological decline, with their soul and mind dying along with them. They long for a sense of peace that they know they will never find. The urgency of the situation is conveyed in the next lines as their pulse races and their time runs out. They are aware that the walls are closing in, trapping them in an existential nightmare.

The second verse adds to the feeling of despair, with the suggestion that the person's God has abandoned them, leaving them with no hope in sight. They turn to prayer, but it seems to offer no comfort, and they are left alone in their darkest hour. The final two lines of the verse continue the motif of being trapped, with the person going down and the room closing in even further.

The third and final verse suggests that the person has reached the end of their journey. The lines "rising out, fallen back, the sky's gone" imply a sense of falling, or perhaps soaring and then crashing down. The mention of the person's body being down suggests that they have physically hit rock bottom. The final lines are ambiguous, with the words "rising out" and "falling above" suggesting that perhaps the person is transcending their pain and finding some solace, but equally, they could be falling further into their despair.

Found out Hickey had this band, missed the way he plays, mainly his solo's are played w/ awesome epic feeling in songs like- Love you to Death,Everything Dies,Cinnamon Girl etc.It gives the songs an extra dimension, even though Steele's bass, is distorted & VERY loud. When the solo comes, they hit me in my darkened Heart.Steele & Cobains death + Hanneman(R.I.P) Im glad that I found Kenny, just miss his special solo's.The 2nd cd is on standby.Mainly because of Steele's death

What is going on with Seventh Void's second album? They had said in interviews like 3 years ago that they were working on new material & a new album would be released within the next year but that was like 3-4 years ago.
