They has been together since April 1996. SWN has played all over Southern Ontario, and continues to expand their touring base. Shared the stage with SNFU, Treble Charger, The Gandharvas and others. SWN sings songs about teenage stuff, like girls, cars, and crappy Starbucks coffee. People have been known to sing along and mosh in unison to most SWN songs. SWN is also known for covering songs from our favourite female popstars from the 80's....Favourites such as "Total eclipse of the heart", 'Like a prayer" and "Time after time" have all appeared on recent SWN releases. Their album "The same three chords" was partly funded through a generous grant from the Canadian government.

Shut up
Sewing With Nancie Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Hey, what's up?
Wonder what is new? All we ever talk about is you, what's up?
For me, shut up
555-1212
That is what I think of you
It's just a boring convo through and through
Telephony rings, my ears begin to sting
Hey, what's up?
Asking about me, would use up too much time and energy, what's up?
For me, shut up
555-1212
That is what I think of you
It's just a boring convo through and through
Take a hint, take a hint, take a hint, take a hint...
Shut up
The lyrics to Sewing With Nancie's song "Shut Up" speak to the frustration of having a one-sided conversation. The singer is tired of always hearing about the other person's life and never being asked about their own. They even wish they weren't home to answer the phone in the first place. The repeated phrase "what's up?" reinforces the mundane nature of the conversation.
Despite the singer's desire for the other person to "shut up," they don't actually say those words until the end of the chorus. Instead, they give out a fake phone number (555-1212) and make it clear that the conversation is boring them to tears. The bridge of the song emphasizes the singer's desire for the other person to take a hint and let them off the hook.
Overall, "Shut Up" is a relatable song for anyone who has been on the receiving end of a tedious phone call. The repetitive nature of the chorus mirrors the feeling of being trapped in an unending conversation.
