After hooking up with the Wu-Tang, Shabazz made two guest appearances on the first Gravediggaz album 6 Feet Deep in 1994, and then he signed to the GZA Entertainment management agency. He remained an official member of Sunz Of Man until just before the group released its debut LP The Last Shall Be First; his best-known solo track "Death be the Penalty" was originally intended to be a Sunz of Man track on the B-side to their single "Soldiers of Darkness," but the other members were so impressed with his contribution he was given the track for himself. This track was met with mixed emotions mainly because many felt it was extremely self righteous and incredibly hypocritical.
In the mid-90s Shabazz released a handful of singles, such as "Death be the Penalty", "Crime Saga", "The Lamb's Blood" and "Street Parables", in anticipation of his planned 1998 debut LP which was scrapped after GZA/Genius' GZA Entertainment label folded. Due to that deal folding, Shabazz's Wu affiliation (along with the affiliation of his close friend Killah Priest, also a GZA Entertainment refugee) began to wane. Around this 1996/1997 period, Priest and Shabazz both began to clash with RZA, and both had since all but cut their Wu-Tang ties. After unsuccessful attempts by the pair to create new post-Wu Tang crews (Priest proposed a crew called the Maccabeez which would include himself, Shabazz and Timbo King among others, while Shabazz proposed a group including himself and Priest called the Sunz Of Thunder) they both effectively went their separate ways, recording solo projects and in Shabazz's case recording as Celestial Souljaz with his cousin Freestyle (of non-Wu Tang crew The Arsonists). Shabazz is also known for being an influence on the late Big Pun.
In recent years, Shabazz has began to rediscover his Wu-Tang roots and performed on a Killa Beez tour as well as doing shows in Europe with Killah Priest (who has also recently been repairing his links with the Wu-Tang). After the death of Poetic, he has been rumored to be part of a new incarnation of Gravediggaz though Prince Paul has stated that a revival of the group is unlikely. He also announced in early 2003 that he has returned to Sunz Of Man as an official member.
In 2003, Shabazz finally released his solo debut "The Book of Shabazz (Hidden Scrollz)", the album featured his past singles "The Lamb's Blood," "Crime Saga," "Street Parables," and "Organized Rime Part 2," as well as the single "Red Hook Day" b/w "Thieves in da Nite (Heist)." Two years later he returned with The Passion of the Hood Christ in mid-2006.
In 2008, Shabazz formed the group T.H.U.G. Angels with fellow Sunz of Man member Hell Razah and producer Ayatollah. The group's debut, Welcome to Red Hook Houses, was released July 8, 2008, on Babygrande Records.
The Lamb's Blood
Shabazz the Disciple Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Leviathan got the ghetto in the death hold
You better lace the lamb's blood on ya threshold
I march in ranks with a vexed soul
All them soldiers that were slain in the field, God bless ya soul!
Leviathan got the ghetto in the death hold
You better lace the lamb's blood on ya threshold
To all the soldiers that were slain in the field, God bless ya soul!
[Verse 1]
This be the opening of the 7th seal
I'm storming down like the plague of hail
Avenge the innocent blood spilled, the king of israel
The earth was given to his hand to trick it
I'm the mighty lion in the thicket, who be spying on the wicked
In these last days, the projects is like the caves
Facing the 10 plagues, like moses I free slaves
I broke bread in the den of sinners, and done the whore toast
During the plague of sores,
The lamb's blood was on my door post
The sinner gog the pagan, be in the synagogue of satan
Meditating on the prophecies I'm revelating
You feel the threat of armageddon every riot in prison
Son of man was in the tombs, once dead and back risen
Red Hook malitia who be holding down his garrison
You crown the sovereign, cause to god there's no comparison
You better load ya fucking caliber
Screw on ya fucking silencer, and check the year on ya calendar
[Chorus]
[Verse 2]
High degrees of espionage is how my army treads
The use of spying, divine manipulation of the threads
Delilah knows samson's strength lie in his dreads
yo brother shine ya crown, don't let'em get inside ya head
Ghetto apostle doing god's work, the last supper host
And ye shall take of the blood
And strike the side and upper post
The whores of babylon got plagues between their legs
Hellfire in the womb, a fetal tomb, contaminated eggs
Abortion is the plague amongst the firstborn, the blackmales
Spare the females, heroin fell just like the plague of hail
Instruments of war echo throughout the projects
Souls drown in the red sea of blood, for material objects
They who worshipped the beast and his mark, went to war and bled
They didn't have the seal of god up in their forehead
I'm laying my life on the altar, inspired by jehova
Feast on this unleavened bread, and death shall pass you over
[Chorus] - repeat 2X
The lyrics to Shabazz The Disciple's song The Lamb's Blood speak about spirituality, warfare and the struggles of living in the ghetto. The chorus warns about the hold that Leviathan, the mythical sea monster that represents chaos and destruction, has on the ghetto and how individuals need to use the lamb's blood to protect themselves. The lamb's blood refers to Passover, where the Israelites protected themselves from the plague of the firstborn by painting lamb's blood on their doors. The song describes the struggles of living in the ghetto and draws parallels to the biblical story of Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt. The singer sees themselves as a warrior, fighting against evil and avenging innocent blood. The verse ends with a call to arms, urging people to arm themselves and prepare for the coming of Armageddon.
The second verse speaks about the use of espionage and divine manipulation to fight the oppressors. The ghetto apostle and his army use the knowledge and strategies gained from spying to outmaneuver their enemies. The singer draws comparisons between contemporary issues such as abortions and drug addiction with biblical plagues. The last part of the verse speaks about laying one's life on the altar for Jehovah and using the unleavened bread to symbolize the passing over of death.

I'm 1 person
I cannot change the world
But I tell you this:
I can give you one ingredient, that you can change yourself
And if everybody change, the world will change, you understand?
What you got to do, is dig inside yourself and eliminate the negative characteristics of Satan
Cause they exist inside you
