Get It
Shadow Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

These years have passed by
And I finally realized
That what we have, this thing
Well, it's all just been a lie
I'm tired of wasting so much time
Living a life, that you've left behind

Like Watching a car crash happening in half time
Or the loose lash that's stinging in the corner of my eye

Like the twist of a very dull knife
I'll finally take the hint, and move on with life

Overall Meaning

These lyrics are from Shadow's song "Get it in". They reflect the realization that the singer has that they have been living a life that has been a lie. They have finally come to terms with the fact that what they thought they had with someone was never real, and they have been wasting their time. The imagery used in the lyrics is visceral and intense. The singer compares their situation to a slow-motion car crash or a stinging lash in their eye. The pain is constant and unrelenting, but they have finally decided to move on with their life.

Diamond stated during an interview that they tried some disco tunes once but that it was boring for a drummer because the beat was simplistic. He preferred funk. He could have been referring to this particular track.

James Keno

Interesting... His brother Kenny played on this album.
