I gotta say this, God is gracious
I need to make it known that God shows kindness and favor

That's not just a doctrine statement, but my heartfelt proclamation
This is not just a theological statement, but a sincere declaration

Of a God who saves men without obligation
Of a God who rescues people without being required to

From the control of sin and the grip of the devil

Nobody sins in moderation
Everyone sins greatly, not in small amounts

That's obvious from our evil thoughts to our conversation
Our wicked thoughts and words make it apparent

We were dead, we needed more than an operation
We were spiritually dead and required more than a physical procedure

We had to be brought out the grave and made alive, awakened
We had to be resurrected from the dead and given new life

It's quite amazing how in salvation
It's truly incredible how in being saved

Each person of the Trinity contributes like a compilation
Each member of the Trinity plays a role like a collaborative album

The Father elected me, Jesus bled for me
God the Father chose me, and Jesus Christ shed His blood for me

And regeneration is the Holy Spirit's confirmation
Being made new is the Holy Spirit's confirmation

So we repent of our abominations
Thus, we turn away from our detestable actions

Consecration to the God who's exalted above the constellations
We dedicate ourselves to the God who is higher than the stars

The observation of the congregation is
The testimony of the gathering is

God is gracious with a lot of patience, so we gotta praise Him!
God is kind and full of patience, so we must praise Him!

When I speak of God's mercy, I'm speaking of His tendency
When I talk about God's mercy, I mean His inclination

To tenderly express empathy towards His enemies
To show compassion and understanding towards those who oppose Him

Whether it be mentally or outright obscenity
Whether it's subtle or overtly sinful

We effectively deserve hell for our enmity
By all accounts, we deserve punishment for our hostility

Adam left a legacy of sin, since we share in his pedigree
Adam passed down sin to us, as we are his descendants

We therefore share in his destiny
Thus, we share in his fate

If God didn't intervene, we'd all perish eventually
Without God's intervention, we would all die and be separated from Him

In His great mercy, He gave us the remedy
Out of His immense kindness, He provided us with the solution

Christ lived sinlessly, then He paid the penalty
Jesus lived without sin, then paid the price for our wrongdoing

His assassination was public like John Kennedy
His execution was a public spectacle, like JFK's

Rose on the third day, exalted to the heavenlies
He rose from the dead on the third day and ascended into heaven

Repent and see your sins will be deleted from His memory
Turn away from your sins, and they will be removed from God's remembrance

Gain a new identity, eternal serenity
Receive a new sense of self and everlasting peace

Now it's clear we should "volunteer" like Tennessee
It's evident that we should serve willingly, like the state of Tennessee

To spread His fame endlessly, the message is essentially
To proclaim His glory endlessly, for that is the essence of the message

A merciful God sent His Son to set sinners free!
God, full of mercy, sent Jesus to free us from sin!

In mercy, Christ saw our wretched condition
Out of compassion, Jesus saw our miserable state

But instead of giving us death for our sinning
Instead of punishing us with death for our wrongdoing

In grace, His blood paid the debt that's infinite
Through grace, His blood paid the endless debt

Now resurrected with Christ and blessed because we're in Him
Now reborn with Jesus and blessed because we abide in Him

Mercy: Christ turned the Father's anger
Mercy: Jesus placated the Father's wrath

Grace: Christ earned us all His favor
Grace: Jesus won us all His approval

And since Christ kept the precepts of the law
And as Jesus followed the law's commands

Because of His perfection, we're accepted by God!
Due to His flawlessness, we are approved by God!

Real righteousness He gladly gives us
True righteousness He freely bestows upon us

The Father happily lavishes this
God the Father happily pours this out

Instead of filthy rags, our Dad's forgiveness
Rather than wearing dirty clothing, we receive our Father's forgiveness

The ultimate story of rags to riches!
The greatest tale of going from poverty to wealth!

His grace displayed in saving the worst men
His undeserved favor shown in rescuing the vilest of individuals

Behold, God's riches of grace are a Person (Jesus)
See, the abundance of God's grace is embodied in Jesus Himself

Christ, the fountain abounding in His grace
Jesus, the source overflowing with grace

Over my foul sin and mountains of mistakes
Above my disgusting sins and heaps of blunders

In pleasure He's immeasurably gracious
He is incredibly kind with overflowing delight

Now we're seated with Jesus in the heavenly places
Now we are located with Jesus in the heavenly realm

Plus His Spirit's the strength that will change Tim
In addition, His Spirit gives power that will transform Tim

He daily gives the grace of sanctification
He gives us the gift of becoming holy every day

Forever we'll praise the I Am
Eternally, we will give praise to the Almighty

Who gave us grace in the Lamb before the ages began
Who bestowed grace upon us through Jesus, even before time began

Because of the cross, all His attributes are for us!
Thanks to the cross, all His qualities are given to us!
