Ok, let's begin- let your mind roam
Let's start the story, imagine the scene

Our scene takes place inside of a home
We're inside a house

The husband has just walked up the staircase
The husband has climbed the stairs

He glares into space with despair on his face
He looks around with a sad expression

His soul is on fire, inside there's a war That can't be denied, He stands outside the door
He's deeply troubled and conflicted, standing outside the room

On the other side, His bride and her lover Oblivious to the fact their lie has been discovered
On the other side of the door, his wife and her lover are having an affair, unaware that they've been caught

So as they embrace and try to make haste They have no idea what's about to take place
They continue to embrace and hurry, unaware of the danger

Gun in hand, he longs to understand What would lead his wife into the arms of another man?
The husband holds a gun and wonders why his wife would cheat on him

He thinks back to the day they made their vows Before God, before the minister and the crowds
He remembers their wedding day

Exchange of the rings, the joy of the reception Now a tainted memory destroyed by deception
The happy memories of their wedding day are now ruined by his wife's infidelity

He had been faithful to her Now the fire of his desire got him ready to do something hateful to her
He was loyal to his wife, but his anger and desire for revenge are making him violent

He never thought his wife would be just a faker And that her lust would make her a covenant breaker
He never expected his wife to cheat on him and break their vows

The promise of fidelity they made was glorious But now His jealousy has made him furious
Their vow to be faithful to each other was beautiful, but now his anger is consuming him

And they can't see the danger No screams or pleas they make could ever ease the pain or appease his anger
His wife and her lover don't realize the danger they're in, and their cries won't stop him

He kicks open the door- they jump out of the bed 'Don't move!' is all he said, gun pointed at his head
He bursts into the room, they jump out of bed, and he points the gun at them

The screams of his wife as she clutches the covers close Her lover spoke to plead for his life
His wife screams and holds on to the covers, while her lover begs for mercy

The husband says to the guy- 'Look me in my eye My face will be the last thing you see before you die'
The husband threatens to kill the lover and makes sure he looks him in the eye

The husband cried inside- his love was bona fide Trouble for the bride- double homicide
Despite his love for his wife, he commits a double murder

How quickly we are to break the vows we made As our unbelief leads our hearts astray
People often break their promises due to lack of faith

How long before He turns His face away? We belong to the Jealous One We belong to the Jealous One
God is jealous and may turn away when we break our promises, but we still belong to Him

Whose blood bought us back, whose victory won Our worship and praise to Him belong The Jealous One
We owe our redemption to God, and we should worship and praise Him

The God of the Bible who invites our trust Must be understood to be nothing like us
God is unlike us, and we should trust Him despite our differences

Most of the time, human jealousy will hurt you But when comes to God, His jealousy is a virtue
Human jealousy is often harmful, but God's jealousy is righteous

One of His awesome perfections surely Thunders His law and protects His glory
God's perfection includes His law, which serves to protect His glory

He gave us the gift of the marriage relationship To acquaint us with a faint taste of this
God gave us the concept of marriage to demonstrate His jealousy

A wife for her husband or husband for wife The only time jealousy is right in this life
In a marriage, it's appropriate to be jealous when there's infidelity

But just as the distance is great between earth and stars God's thoughts are much higher than ours
God's thoughts and ways are far beyond human comprehension

So His jealousy is on a whole other level Unintelligible to the soul of a rebel
God's jealousy is beyond the understanding of people who reject Him

But in sacred Scripture, God paints the picture The aim: to shake your frame- it straight convicts ya
The Bible describes God's jealousy in order to challenge readers and bring them to repentance

And that's what it should do God's jealousy is frightful, yet it's delightful and good, too
God's jealousy is scary but ultimately beneficial

I couldn't think of much worse if I tried Than a dude who smirks if you flirt with His bride
No one wants a spouse who will cheat on them or take it lightly

So tell me, what kind of God would He be If He wasn't bothered to see idolatry?
God wouldn't be worthy of worship if He didn't care about people worshiping false gods

Is God just supposed to laugh and withhold His wrath When He's replaced by a golden calf?
God can't just ignore idolatry without consequences

You say, I don't worship a golden calf! Well for us, it's self and sex and loads of cash
While we may not literally worship golden calves, we still value things that displace God in our lives

Atrocious paths, we still don't know the half Of how these things provoke His holy wrath
Our actions may anger God in ways we don't fully understand

So we stand in awe and wonder how come God took His jealous anger out on His Son
We marvel at the fact that Jesus suffered for our sins because of God's jealousy

So all those trust Him can see like we're supposed to see And be forgiven for our spiritual adultery!
Those who believe in Jesus can see things as they should be and be forgiven for cheating on God
