Shaka Ponk is a Paris-based band that has created a sound that blends electro, rock, punk, and dance with a stunning live show that combines advanced digital animation with an unsurpassed display of energy from the band members. Released under the French record label tôt Ou tard/ Guess What! (Yael Naim - Piers Faccini), Bad Porn Movie Trax is composed of fourteen high-energy tracks including singles "How We Kill Stars" and "Do".
Shaka Ponk got its start between Paris and Berlin in 2005 from a concept that brings together music, imagery and activism. The former web designer and imaginative frontman of the group, Frah, along with guitarist, CC, came up with a highly original project that combined conventional rock-n-roll elements (dirty guitar riffs and cardiac stimulating beats) with new techniques such as VJing, which mixes sounds and images around an animated monkey character named Goz who is as much a part of the group as the other five members. Since then, the band has been extremely active online creating complex videos and innovative motion graphic work as well as their own online channel, "Monkey TV".
Shaka Ponk performed in New York City for the first time October 2009 in the celebrated CMJ Musical Festival and on November 7, AOL chose the track "How We Kill Stars" off the new album Bad Porn Movie Trax as the Music Video of the Day. The band released the album in the United States on March 1, 2010.
In 2011 the band added a female singer, Samaha Sam, and released their album The Geeks and the Jerkin' Socks in June, 2011.

This is bio-mecanica deep inside
"What you have? You know what I also got!"
Simple bot: think a lot before you act and you talk
Simple man, you say that you do what you can ...
Punk I don't know what you can but I am what I am
Don't you fucking understand... Yo I am what I am
No offense, but if you want it to make
sense, you've got to be smarter 'baba'!
Try me if you wanna
It's so easy: try me! If you wanna
Kill me if you don't like me no more
Just kill me
I'm so easy
A 'deriz' correction and hallowed be our connection
A 'deriz' correction and hallowed be our connection
A last correction the deepa way connection
A last connection the deepa way oh lie lie
I'm 'prime time'! I wanna spend my life time
Being a loser-superman
Don't you wanna be a man (hey! hey!)
This is how we do, this is how we do (hey! hey!)
This is how we do, this is How We Kill Stars now!
This is how we do, kill a star
Try me if you wanna
It's so easy: try me! If you wanna
Kill me if you don't like me no more
Just kill me
I'm so easy
A 'deriz' correction and hallowed be our connection
A 'deriz' correction and hallowed be our connection
A last correction the deepa way oh lie lie
This is how we do, kill a star
This is how we do, kill a star

A last be our connection the deepa way oh lie lie
The lyrics to Shaka Ponk's song "How We Kill Stars" are about living in a society where people are living a lie deep inside themselves. The first verse starts by addressing the listener directly and telling them that they are living a lie and to stop hiding. The next line "this is bio-mechanica deep inside" refers to the idea that our society runs like a machine and humans are becoming more and more like robots. The lines "Simple bot: think a lot before you act and you talk / Simple man, you say that you do what you can" speak to the idea that humans are just going through the motions, not really thinking for themselves.
The second verse is a conversation between two people, one of whom calls themselves 'Punk.' The other person tells Punk that they don't know what they can do but that they know who they are. This conversation leads to the chorus where the person is saying "try me if you want to / kill me if you don't like me no more / just kill me." It shows the desperation of someone who knows they are not living their life to the fullest and is challenging anyone to finish the job of ending their life.
The song ends with the repetition of the phrase "A 'deriz' correction and hallowed be our connection," which could mean that we need to correct the way we are living and connect with one another in a deeper way. Overall, the lyrics to "How We Kill Stars" are about the emptiness and desperation that we can feel when we aren't living our lives to the fullest.
