Shaka Ponk is a Paris-based band that has created a sound that blends electro, rock, punk, and dance with a stunning live show that combines advanced digital animation with an unsurpassed display of energy from the band members. Released under the French record label tôt Ou tard/ Guess What! (Yael Naim - Piers Faccini), Bad Porn Movie Trax is composed of fourteen high-energy tracks including singles "How We Kill Stars" and "Do".
Shaka Ponk got its start between Paris and Berlin in 2005 from a concept that brings together music, imagery and activism. The former web designer and imaginative frontman of the group, Frah, along with guitarist, CC, came up with a highly original project that combined conventional rock-n-roll elements (dirty guitar riffs and cardiac stimulating beats) with new techniques such as VJing, which mixes sounds and images around an animated monkey character named Goz who is as much a part of the group as the other five members. Since then, the band has been extremely active online creating complex videos and innovative motion graphic work as well as their own online channel, "Monkey TV".
Shaka Ponk performed in New York City for the first time October 2009 in the celebrated CMJ Musical Festival and on November 7, AOL chose the track "How We Kill Stars" off the new album Bad Porn Movie Trax as the Music Video of the Day. The band released the album in the United States on March 1, 2010.
In 2011 the band added a female singer, Samaha Sam, and released their album The Geeks and the Jerkin' Socks in June, 2011.

That crazy girl I know
She's a C3PO
Talkin' like a robot I don't understand
I thought she was a blond
Too bad I'm movin' on
Don't want a chica meca complicated
See me walking like a monkey
Quitting and let go whoa
You can't stop, the bot, can't stop the bot
You can't stop, the bot, can't stop the bot
You can't stop, the bot, can't stop the bot
You can't stop, the bot, can't stop
And diggin' on and on, and on
Can't stop the bot and diggin' on, and on
Can't stop the bot and diggin' on, and on
Can't stop the bot and diggin' on, and on
Can't stop the bot yo
The city symphony (uh-uh)
So far I want to bo (to be)
Those crazy bots I know are so addicted
Silly locoz on the streets they're
Feeling uncomplete with
Version 1.0 whoa
No I wanna celebrate the flaws and
Make my baby laugh with
Nothing but some love I wanna
Love but we can't
You can't stop, the bot, can't stop the bot
You can't stop, the bot, can't stop the bot
You can't stop, the bot, can't stop the bot
You can't stop, the bot, can't stop
And diggin' on and on, and on
Can't stop the bot and diggin' on, and on
Can't stop the bot and diggin' on, and on
Can't stop the bot and diggin' on, and on
Can't stop the bot yo
Love I wanna, yeah
What d'you mean
See me walking like a monkey
Talking like a ouisti
Quitting and let go whoa
No I wanna celebrate the flaws and
Make my baby laugh with
Nothing but some love I wanna
(see me walking like a monkey
Talking like a ouisti
Quitting and let go whoa)
You can't stop, the bot, can't stop the bot
You can't stop, the bot, can't stop the bot
You can't stop, the bot, can't stop the bot
You can't stop, the bot, can't stop
(see me walking like a monkey
Talking like a ouisti
Quitting and let go whoa)
And take it all alone, alone
Can't stop the bot and diggin' on, and on
Can't stop the bot and diggin' on, and on
Can't stop the bot and diggin' on, and on
Can't stop the bot yo
The song "Stop the Bot" by Shaka Ponk talks about a girl who talks like a robot, making the singer feel disconnected from her. He is described as walking like a monkey and talking like a "ouisti", a term whose meaning is unclear and might have been made up by the band. The singer wants to move on from this "chica meca" (mecha girl) because he doesn't want anything too complicated. However, he also celebrates flaws and wants to love someone for who they are rather than a perfect version.
The song seems to be a commentary on how technology and artificial intelligence can make people feel disconnected from each other. The use of the term "bot" might be referencing how people have become so reliant on technology that they are almost robotic themselves. The line "Those crazy bots I know are so addicted" suggests that this is a common problem.
The repeated refrain of "can't stop the bot" emphasizes the idea that once technology takes hold, it's hard to break away from it. The use of the word "diggin'" might suggest a deeper longing to connect with something real and to not just be lost in the digital world.
Overall, "Stop the Bot" is a cautionary tale about the dangers of becoming too reliant on technology and losing touch with human connection.
