History… Read Full Bio ↴Shakra is a Swiss hard rock band founded in the late 1990's.
History:
With their first releases "Shakra" (1997), and "Moving Force" (1999), and by touring with Great White and Uriah Heep, the early career of this Swiss band was a steep learning curve with dramatic success but the real breakthrough came with their third record "Power Ride" (2001) when singer Pete Wiedmer was forced to leave the band because of ill health, replaced by Mark Fox. Mark immediately put his stamp on the following album "Rising" (2003), which saw Shakra rise higher on the career ladder than ever before and hit the German and Swiss album charts. The band played several concerts and festivals, one of which was the prestigious "Bang Your Head" event.
The controversial video clip for the song "Chains Of Temptation" showed singer Fox giving himself a heroin injection. After supporting Iron Maiden at the Swiss "Spirit Of Rock" festival, Shakra then took the decision to tour through 12 countries with HammerFall and Stratovarius. The band played a huge show in Zurich with Guns N' Roses in 2006. Shortly after the Everest album was released, Mark Fox left the band and was replaced by John Prakesh on vocals. New releases include "Back On Track" in Feb 2011 and "Powerplay" in Jan 2013. On April 23, 2014, John Prakesh announced he was leaving Shakra. October 2015, Mark Fox joined Shakra again. A new single, Hello, was released.

Everything's averse
No one gives a reason
For this aggrieving curse
No one gives you shelter
Or just a helping hand
Who cares about your troubles
Needed just a piece of me
Now you go your own way
Needed just one great thought in life
To make you strong to carry on
Strive on, grab your wings and fly on
Open up your eyes and realize there's skies
Strive on, though the world gets you wrong
Cease with your own lies, it's worth to pay the price
grab your wings and fly on.. strive on
Once you were a winner
Unattainable
You'd climb the highest mountain
Absurd to think you'd fall
Nothing last forever
But everybody tries
The journey is your fortune
The path is your main goal
Needed just a piece of me
Now you go your own way
Needed just one great thought in your life
To make you strong to carry on
Strive on, grab your wings and fly on
Open up your eyes and realize there's skies
Strive on, though the world gets you wrong
Cease with your own lies, it's worth to pay the price
grab your wings and fly on.. strive on
Needed just a piece of me
Now you go your own way
Needed just one great thought in your life
I tried to give you more than this
N' you took more and more
You sucked all my energy
To make you strong to carry on
Strive on, grab your wings and fly on
Open up your eyes and realize there's skies
Strive on, though the world gets you wrong
Cease with your own lies, it's worth to pay the price
grab your wings and fly on.. strive on
fly on.. strive on
The lyrics of the song "The Journey" by Shakra convey a message of perseverance and self-reliance amid the challenges of life. The opening lines suggest a feeling of loneliness and despair, as the singer observes that everything is frightening and no one seems to care about his or her woes. However, the chorus empowers the listener to strive on and find the strength to overcome obstacles, urging them to open their eyes to the possibilities beyond their current circumstances.
The second verse serves as a reminder that success is not always guaranteed and that setbacks are inevitable, but the journey itself is what matters. The climax of the song expresses a sense of frustration with someone who has taken advantage of the singer's generosity and drained their energy. Despite this betrayal, the chorus repeats the call to strive on and find the courage to soar to new heights.
Overall, the lyrics of "The Journey" encourage the listener to take control of their destiny and not be deterred by the challenges they face. They suggest that the path to success might be difficult and that there will be those who seek to hold you back, but the journey is worth it in the end.
