Shane Barnard
Christianity began to play an active role in the life of Barnard when he was in ninth grade, when he began to attend a Bible church youth group. He began leading worship soon thereafter. During his junior year as a student at Texas A&M University, Barnard began a recording career.
Prior to joining Everett, Barnard teamed up with friend Caleb Carruth to release an album. Entitled "Salvation Still Remains", it was released in limited numbers. Barnard and Carruth were rumored to have recorded the album in only two days due to the fact they had to pay for studio time themselves and wanting to make the most of it. Family and friends brought them sandwiches and drinks through out the process. Barnard and Carruth later agreed to end their partnership amicably, stating "they were just moving in different directions".
Shane married CCM singer Bethany Dillon on March 29, 2008.
Shane Everett
Everett was born in Dallas, Texas and later moved to Garland, a nearby suburb. Everett also attended Texas A&M University. After playing in a bar band, 4D2, one night Everett experienced an encounter with God which led him to Central Baptist Church, where he became a Christian. Shortly thereafter, he met Barnard, and became part of a weekly student-led praise and worship service at Texas A&M.
The band originally began with Barnard performing solo acts, but Everett increasingly played a major role in his performances. With the release of their 2003 album, entitled Carry Away, the band became officially known as Shane & Shane.
Band Members
Taylor Johnson
Johnson started as a guitarist for Todd Agnew. After Agnew moved to Memphis, Tennessee, Taylor stayed behind and played the guitar for the Robbie Seay Band. When Robbie Seay Band went on tour with Shane & Shane during David Crowder Band's "A Collision Tour", he played guitar for both, staying on with the new group. Taylor later went full time with the David Crowder Band, and is now back with Shane & Shane.

What if God came down to earth
Stepped out of heaven
Walked into your house
And said ask me anything
And you said I just have to know
How do you get to heaven
And you were hanging on His every word
And He said
There's a way to go, an open door
For the human soul
You can come today
Jesus is the way
He's my only Son, He's the one I love
And I gave Him up for you to be saved
Jesus is the way
You know that God came down to earth
He stepped out of heaven
Walked into my world
And made my heart His home
And He said there is a better way
A life worth living
And I'm hanging on His every word
Cause He is God, I believe because He's God
And He said
There's a way to go, an open door
For the human soul
You can come today
Jesus is the way
He's my only Son, He's the one I love
And I gave Him up for you to be saved
Jesus is the way
There's a fork in the road ahead
That you are walking
It is wide and it is easier
But it leads to destruction
The other way is a narrow gate
It's the path less taken
It is hard and it requires your life
It's the pathway to Zion
The pathway to Zion
There's a way to go, an open door
For the human soul
You can come today
Jesus is the way
There's a way to go, an open door
For the human soul
You can come today
Jesus is the way
He's my only son, He's the one I love
And I gave Him up for you to be saved
Jesus is the way
There's a way to go, an open door
For the human soul
You can come today
Jesus is the way
He's my only son, He's the one I love
And I gave Him up for you to be saved
Jesus is the way
Oooo, ooooo
The song "Because He's God" by Shane & Shane speaks about the coming of God to earth, and the granting of the opportunity to ask Him anything. The lyrics imagine a scenario where God himself is present in the house of the singer, and he asks how to get to heaven. The answer is given in the form of Jesus being the way, the only Son of God who was given up for the salvation of humanity. The song speaks of the two paths that lie ahead, one being wide and easy but leading to destruction, and the other being narrow and difficult, but it leads to the ultimate destination, "the pathway to Zion." The lyrics emphasize the importance of choosing the narrow gate, as it is the pathway to eternal life.
The song is a beautiful exploration of the faith of the singer, and his unwavering belief in God's plan for salvation. It talks about the significance of Jesus, his death, and his resurrection, and how it is important to choose the narrow path that leads to salvation. The lyrics remind listeners that despite the temptations of the easy and wide road, the true reward lies in the narrow but righteous path that reflects the way of God.
Overall, "Because He's God" is a worship song that speaks of the love of God, the salvation he brings, and the importance of Jesus Christ as the way to eternal life.
