His album 'Stargazer' is the follow up to his 2005 independent release, The Middle Way. The album was produced by Heroes & Villains and features Charlie Paxon (James Blunt, Colin, Hay, Anastasia) on drums, Billy Mohler (Macy Gray, Liz Phair, Herbie Hancock) on bass, Krister Axel on piano, Chris Pierce on harmonica, and veteran session ace Kim Bullard (Tori Amos, Goo Goo Dolls, David Crosby, Eddie Money) on Hammond organ.
Formerly the front man for the rock band Damone, Alexander took the solo path immediately following Damone's 2003 disbanding. Soon after, Alexander released his self-produced, self-titled EP, featuring simple acoustic and vocal production with dark strings and mandolin.
2005 was a marquee year for Alexander, as he toured in the States and Europe, including opening slots with Jewel, John Hiatt and Peter Case. He also secured a distribution deal in Amsterdam with Lucky Dice Music. "The Open Road", the lead single from The Middle Way, received national airplay on numerous stations across Holland (while also becoming a most-requested track on XM Radio in the US.) The Dutch tour that followed quickly earned Alexander a reputation as a must-see artist, as word of his solo acoustic performances spread.
In 2006, Alexander was asked to open two tours with Jewel and one with Lisa Marie Presley – armed only with an acoustic guitar, he won over thousands of new fans night after night.
In May of 2007, Alexander opened twelve U.S. dates for SEAL. All of the dates were performed solo acoustic with the exception of Cox Arena in San Diego, where he performed with his band.
Where Were You
Shane Alexander Lyrics

Everything can change
The past just falls backwards, and the road turns strange
I wonder to myself, when my time came
Where were you?
Where were you?
When the die cast, when the road split
I was washed out, I was faded
No one came for me
And I saw my reflection, watched myself bleed
Where were you?
Where were you?
When I fell so hard, like I always do
When I tried your number, still the spell I’m under
Found no one no, had to just move on
Where were you?
Do you remember the boardwalk night
The sand in our hand, the fourth of July
In the distance there’s a graveyard
With an unmarked grave
Filled with laughter, with loving
All the joy you gave.
No one came calling, no flowers laid
Where were you?
Where were you?
When I fell so hard, like I always do
When I tried your number, still the spell I’m under
Found no one no, had to just move on
Where were you?
The lyrics of Shane Alexander's song “Where Were You” speak about the feeling of abandonment and a lack of support during difficult times. At the beginning of the song, the singer reflects on the fleeting nature of life and the unpredictability of fate. He wonders where the people who were supposed to be there for him during dark moments were. The song then shifts to a scene of the eventual decline and self-reflection of the singer. He compares himself to a lifeless tree and questions why no one came to his support during his painful fall.
The lyrics also describe a situation where the singer tried to reach out to someone during a time of need, but received no response. He had to move on and face his challenges alone. The song further mentions a nostalgic memory of a happy moment that he shared with someone but with a tinge of regret, wondering if they would have been there when he needed them.
Overall, the song expresses sadness, regret, and longing for missing support and love during vulnerable moments. It sheds light on the emotional toll that abandonment and feeling alone can cause.
