Shane Dawson was born with the name Shane Lee Yaw, but changed it to Dawson because casting directors wouldn't call him back because they thought he was Asian. He chose the name Dawson after Jack Dawson because his favorite movie is Titanic.

On his main channel, he started a new series in October 2010 called "Shane and Friends", which is basically all his characters, (Shanaynay, Ned the Nerd, S Deezy, Aunt Hilda, Shane's mom, and Paris Hilton), and each character talks and does their own thing for a couple minutes.
Shane Dawson has announced in some of his videos that he is making a 30 minute pilot for a possible TV show called SD High, which is based on two of his videos, High School Drama and School Dance Disaster, it's going to be aired on his main YouTube channel, and could possibly be a TV show.
