When
Shania Twain Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

If elephants could fly, I'd be a little more optimistic
But I don't see that happening anytime soon
I don't mean to sound so pessimistic
But I don't think that cow really jumped over the moon

When will I wake up?
Why did we break up?
When will we make up?

When money grows on trees
People live in peace
Everyone agrees
When happiness is free
Love can guarantee
You'll come back to me, that's when

I'd love to wake up smiling full of the joys of spring
And hear on CNN that Elvis lives again
And that John's back with the Beatles and they're going out on tour
I'll be the firs in line for tickets, gotta see that show for sure

When will I wake up?
Why did we break up?
When will we make up?

When money grows on trees
People live in peace
Everyone agrees
When happiness is free
Love can guarantee
You'll come back to me, that's when

When will I wake up?
Why did we break up?
When will we make up?

When money grows on trees
People live in peace
Everyone agrees
When happiness is free
Love can guarantee
You'll come back to me, that's when

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Shania Twain's "When" express a feeling of intense longing and desire for a better world. The singer muses on a series of unlikely scenarios that would make the world a happier and more optimistic place, such as elephants flying, a cow jumping over the moon, money growing on trees, and the return of Elvis and the Beatles. These fanciful scenarios serve as a contrast to the tough realities of the singer's current existence, including a break-up with a lover and a general feeling of pessimism about the world around her.

The singer's yearning for a better world is underscored by the repeated refrain of "When will I wake up? Why did we break up? When will we make up?" This question suggests that the singer is not only looking for a more optimistic future for herself but is also seeking a resolution to the conflict that has caused her relationship to fall apart. The repeated use of the word "when" also suggests that this future is not entirely impossible, but rather something that exists as a possibility in the singer's mind.

Overall, Shania Twain's "When" is a song that speaks to the universal desire for a better world and a brighter future. The lyrics are filled with longing and hope, even as they acknowledge the difficult realities of the present moment.

Quero estar certa nisso

Quero te conhecer com todas as minhas forças

Refrão - repete

Eu quero te conhecer tão bem
Quero conhecer suas emoções
Quero experimentar toda lágrima
Quero ouvir você respirando
Sentir o que você está sentindo
Eu quero te conhecer
Conhecer tão bem!
Como ninguém te conhece
Quero alcançar as profundezas da sua mente
Eu quero te conhecer
Quero te conhecer
Eu quero te conhecer
Quero te conhecer
Quero te conhecer
Te conhecer
Eu quero te conhecer de cór
Eu quero te conhecer tão bem!
