If I happen to stay til the end
Will it give us all away?
Will it give us all away?
I've been wracking and beating my brain
But it always ends up the same
What is it you want to know?
I gave my life for this city
I gave my life for this city
As you laid asleep
All your friends have come and gone
You can depend on me
Like all things around the sun
Do you hope I
Just to be sure I don't belong
I don't know just what you want
I don't know what just you need
After fighting and giving my all
Watching for the bridges to fall
Waiting for the bars to bend
Waiting for them to give in
I can't relax in this city
I can't relax in this city
As I laid asleep
All my friends have come and gone
You still carry me
Like all things around the sun
No time for sympathies
For the endings left undone
You can depend on me
Like all things around the sun
As you laid asleep
All your friends have come and gone
You can depend on me
Like all things around the sun
No time for sympathies
For the endings left undone
You can depend on me
Like all things around the sun (x6)
The lyrics of Shapiro's song "All Things Around The Sun" delve into themes of loyalty, sacrifice, and personal struggle. The singer seems to be grappling with their own emotions and uncertainties, questioning the impact of their actions and decisions on those around them. The repeated refrain of "Will it give us all away?" suggests a fear of exposing vulnerabilities or betraying trust.
The lines "I gave my life for this city" and "As you laid asleep, all your friends have come and gone" evoke a sense of dedication and perseverance despite facing obstacles and solitude. The singer appears to be reflecting on the sacrifices made in the name of something greater, whether it be a place or a relationship.
The imagery of friends coming and going, bridges falling, and bars bending conveys a sense of impermanence and resilience. The singer seems to be aware of the transient nature of life and relationships, yet finds solace in the constants that remain, likening themselves to "all things around the sun."
The repeated assurance "You can depend on me" and the final affirmation of being like "all things around the sun" suggest a steadfast presence and unwavering support for others, despite personal struggles and uncertainties. The song concludes with a sense of resolve and a reminder that even amidst uncertainties and unresolved endings, there are constants to rely on. Overall, the lyrics paint a picture of inner turmoil, loyalty, and the enduring strength found in interconnectedness.

Excellent! One of my favorite tracks. L-E-A-V-I-N-G is awesome too. Maybe that one should be shared with the YouTube world? What are your guys' influences/who are your copycats? I want more Shapiro sound and I'm not patient enough for another album? :)
