You Had It Coming
Shapiro Lyrics

You had it coming for a long time running
And now it's over for us
But you've forgotten
You don't remember how we lost ourselves
In the words and the thoughts
That's what you said to me when you were tired; wanted some rest
You had it coming
You had it coming for a long time running
It's knocking at your door
You've got your money
But I've got my pride
It's kind of funny how you always try to run and hide
When things get stuck
When things get going
I'm left here by myself
And you go running away
You are alone
(You had it coming, you had it coming)
You are alone
(You had it coming, you had it coming)
What are you running from?
Where are you running to?
You never stop to take a break
Check out the view
I'm tired of cheap tricks, cheap talk, broken promises
And everything you tried to tell me was the truth
That's why
You are alone
(You had it coming, you had it coming)
You are alone
(You had it coming, you had it coming)
I've got this pain in my heart and it won't ever stop
You know the rules, you'd played the game so long now
I've got this pain in my heart and it won't ever stop
You know the rules, you'd played the game so long, goodbye, honey.
You are alone
(You had it coming, you had it coming)
You are alone
(You had it coming, you had it coming)
You are alone
(You had it coming, you had it coming)
You are alone
You had it coming, you had it coming
The song "Jesse's Song" by Shapiro is a powerful and emotional song about a relationship that has ended. The song speaks to the feelings of hurt and betrayal that often come with a breakup, and the lyrics are filled with both bitterness and a sense of finality.
The opening lines of the song immediately set the tone, with the singer announcing that the other person had it coming for a long time running. This suggests that the relationship has been troubled for a while and that the ending was inevitable. The chorus of the song reinforces this idea, with the repeated refrain of "You had it coming" emphasizing the idea that the other person is responsible for the breakup.
Throughout the song, the singer expresses feelings of anger and frustration towards the other person and questions their motives for running away from the relationship. The line "Where are you running to? You never stop to take a break, check out the view" suggests that the other person may be avoiding their problems rather than facing them head-on.
Overall, "Jesse's Song" is a raw and emotional song that captures the pain of a breakup in a powerful way.
