Her sound is siren-like.
With less than a year under her belt as a solo-artist she has already accomplished several notable achievements. She independently released her first 5-song EP titled “Far Field”. She accomplished an extremely successful 50-state promotional tour selling over 2,000 copies of her EP, playing more than 70 shows in 6 months, and filling a variety of venues from colleges to coffee shops around the country. She also gained a wide and faithful fan base through personal contact and a blog titled “Packing Light – Far Field Tour 2010.”
The blog, written by Ally Spotts, chronicled the adventures of the two girls as they traveled across the country; recounting a variety of stories and adventures from busking on the streets of Portsmouth, NH to playing high-profile venues like the Hotel Café in Los Angeles.
The title track, Far Field, has been featured on Portland’s KINK.FM Spotlight series and several music blogs including Welcome Hohmes “Best of 2010” list.
“2010 was busy, but this is just the beginning” Sharaya states optimistically as she shares plans for what’s next. Once she got a taste of life on the road, she couldn’t go back to her day-job, she laughs. Still, Sharaya emphasizes that her life as an independent artist is more than a full time job.
Sharaya is scheduled to release her second 5-track EP titled “Rush” in March of 2011 and a full-length live/acoustic album shortly after. She is also scheduling a spring tour of the southeast. In April she will be tracking background vocals for The River Empires, an Indie/Folk/Rock band out of Portland, OR that she’s been involved with since its origination in 2008. CD Release shows for the Rush EP have already been booked in Maui, Anchorage, and Portland where fans are anxiously awaiting her latest recordings.
Sharaya has been compared by her fans to contemporary artists Ingrid Michelson and Feist– a comparison that speaks most vividly to the warmth of her melodies and richness of her vocal tones. Her lyrics are refreshingly sweet, a perfect match to her tender disposition. She speaks frankly to the complexities of relationships that no twenty-something—or anyone else for that matter—can escape. Her lyrics are smart and inviting.
Where her reputation does not yet precede her, raw talent certainly does. In any venue, at any time of day, this artist seizes audiences effortlessly.
Sharaya currently resides in Nashville TN.

Don't try to keep me in your reach
If you don't want me, let me go
Don't try to break it to me slow
If you don't care for me at all
Then please...
It's all or nothing
Time to decide
I'm moving on now
Should I leave you behind?
Should I?
If you don't need me in your life
Don't waste my time trying to be kind
If you don't plan to stick it out
Don't drag my love around
If you don't care for me at all
Then please don't call
If you don't care for me at all
Then please...
It's all or nothing
Time to decide
I'm done waiting for you to make up your mind
I'm moving on now
Should I leave you behind?
Should I?
If you just can't seem to choose
Let me make it easy on you
So if you want to keep your options open
Don't leave me hopeless
It's all or nothing
Time to decide
I'm done waiting for you to make up your mind
I'm moving on now
Should I leave you behind?
Should I leave you behind?
Should I leave you behind?
Should I?
The lyrics to Sharaya Mikael's song "All or Nothing" are a heart-wrenching plea for clarity and honesty in a romantic relationship. The singer begins the song by expressing her need for the other person to make a definitive decision - if they don't love her, she wants them to let her go instead of trying to keep her close. The singer doesn't want false hope to be given to her, so if their affection is not there, they must communicate this to her. She wants the other person to be direct and not drag their feet.
As the chorus comes in, the singer emphasizes the importance of a decision, she's all or nothing; the singer is done waiting for the other person to choose. She's moving on with or without them, and she needs to decide if she is leaving them behind. The repetition of the line "it's all or nothing" further communicates the singer's desire for clarity and decisiveness - she is tired of playing games. In the second verse, the singer highlights the consequences of leading someone on; she implores the person not to waste her time or drag her love around if they don't have any interest in sticking around.
Finally, the song closes with the singer urging the person to make a choice. If they can't seem to decide, she wants to make it easy for them. If you want to keep your options open, don't leave me hopeless. The song's lyrics are about the need for honesty in a relationship, giving oneself to each other entirely or not at all. The singer is frustrated with the mixed signals she's receiving and requires the other person to put their cards on the table.
