The lyrics in Shattered Skies's song Haunted explore the idea of relationships coming to an end and the difficulty of moving on from them. The first verse of the song sets the tone by acknowledging that the couple has been in this situation before and deep down they both know that it's the end. There have been so many fights and battles that they have endured that have taken a toll on them. Despite this, the singer acknowledges the beauty of how their partner played their role in the relationship. However, the singer knows that it's better to leave it all behind and forget about the memories that are better off dead. They ask the partner to move on from this relationship and throw them out the door.
The second verse of the song continues to describe the aftermath of the relationship. The singer acknowledges that their partner has moved on so easily and they are left to deal with the heartbreak of the ending. The singer praises their partner's virtues and tells them to take solace in the fact that they were strong enough to move on.
