I Should Have Known Better
She & Him Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I should have known better with
A guy like you
That I would love everything that you do
And I do hey hey hey and I do

Whoa whoa
I never realized what a kiss could be
This could only happen to me
Can't you see, can't you see?

That when I tell you that I love you, oh
You're gonna say you love me too
Oh oh, and when I ask you to be mine
You're gonna say you love me too

Whoa whoa, I
Never realized what a kiss could be
This could only happen to me
Can't you see, can't' you see? Oh

That when I tell you that I love you, oh (Oh)
You're gonna say you love me too (Oh)
Oh, and when I ask you to be mine
You're gonna say you love me too

You love me too you love me too

You love me too you love me too
You love me too

I love this song, it's like Spongebob, The Beatles and Zooey together. Love it.

... This is beautiful. I never thought I'd ever hear such a folksy version of this song. I love it.

at 1:35 you can hear Zooey laughing. I read that its because M. Ward nicked a table with his guitar while playing and they just decided to keep it. gotta love that authenticity :)

+David Dobreski   Must be either that, or it is that Ward makes her laugh coz of his ueber sugarry-sweet impersonalisation of Paul McC  (who himself never got sick of being ueber-sweet ;)  If ya dig a not-so-sweet duet, take this snowy surprise for the season, where the guitarist cant help himself @ 2.20 and again @ 2.50 in Paloma Faith and Josh Weller -  its Xmas and I hate U (watch?v=jD3p2z9nBGY  (if link dont work try searchin :)

Reminds me of Red Knuckles & The Trailblazers back in the 1980s and 1990s. They were the alter-ego of Hot Rize, a bluegrass band that came to be in the late '70s. Their sets would include songs like Nowhere Man, Wild Thing, White Rabbit and so on. Great to hear this stuff again.
