Cool video! I wish you would've done a closeup of all your finds afterwards, I live in Cali and have only recently started shelling, I can't say how much I wanted to jump in the video and start inspecting all those shells!

Austin Glen I made one with a large wire scoop from Asian Grocery store and a metal broom handle. You can make a bottle holder with cable ties.

Okay, so what does the Beach Buddy do actually? Is it just a long handled scoop with a plastic bottle attached? I guess I just don't get the concept there! Also, I always thought sharks teeth were white, but all of yours were black. I guess you can tell I'm not a real beach comber, just a wannabe.

I sift for shark teeth in shell beds. I could go beach combing all day! Use a kitchen strainer with tiny holes from the dollar store! 🙂. Happy combing everyone!

The teeth turn colors because the enamel and calcium are replaced with minerals during fossilization. The teeth must be buried in sediment for this to happen or they will decay away. The teeth you find on beach are at least 10,000 years old and could be in the millions. If your lucky enough to find a megalodon tooth it's at least 2.5 million years old.

That's alot of seashells !!! Santa Cruz Beach in California there's almost no shells like 99.999 % nothing. I have a piece of Abalone that I found around 1974 or 75 I was at the right place at the wright time. : )

Low tide is the best shelling there. Get in the trough a couple steps into the water. You will find lots.

I purchased mine at the Green Parrot on Venice Ave. I believe the address is 235 W. Venice Ave. It's just a few blocks away from the beach.

I go in the water to search for them and i alway have very red hands and scratched knees

But its well worth it since shells are really hard to find here in malta

I’m confused, what’s the point of using the beach buddy if you’re just gonna drop it and crouch down and pickup the find

Berrden I was also holding a GoPro, which I had to set down in order to film properly. The beach buddy is used to eliminate the need to bend over by scooping up the finds. Unfortunately, I had no way of demonstrating this without first putting my GoPro down so that I could put my find in the Snappy Buddy.

I picked up over 250 sharks teeth on my beach in a 5 mile stretch. Imagine walking, and bending over that many times in a five mile stretch. Do that for a year and see how your back feels. I'm getting one of these to save my back.
