(Still we coming)
(Still we coming)
(Still we coming)

(Fee, fi, fo, fom) Understand there is just no stopping
(For this day I’ll) Swim the sea, climb the highest mountain
(Rain or thunderstorm) Blaze the heat like a fire blazing
(Sorry Boss man) Carnival ain’t no way I working
Bossman threatening to fire me for sure
If I only leave work early once more

Don’t even try) Telling me to forget the season
(Clear the way, the road is calling) I’f I’m not there I’ll end in prison
(Land Lord rent is due) That money spending on my costume
(Don’t Call me No) After Carnival I will call you
How I’m flying home I don’t know for sure
But I guarntee I’ll be there once more
Masqueraders when you reach town
Its the Return of the King!! says:
Ah want yuh take out yuh rag, take out yuh flag and jump and carry on

Where we’d be Carnival morning
Free your mind your soul be bold
Let music take control

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Dead or Alive" by Sherwayne Winchester are deeply rooted in the Trinidadian culture of Carnival, where people come together to celebrate and embrace their heritage with music, dancing, and colorful costumes. The song encourages listeners to let go of any inhibitions and fully embrace the spirit of Carnival, even if it means defying authority figures and breaking away from work obligations.

The lyrics are filled with imagery associated with Carnival, such as taking out flags and rags, jumping up in a band, and letting music take control. The chorus repeats the words "dead or alive" as a testament to the infectious energy and unstoppable spirit of the Carnival goers, no matter what obstacles or challenges they may face.

The verses also touch on the theme of freedom and rebellion against authority, with the singer defying his boss's threats of firing him for leaving work early to partake in the festivities. The song ends with a call to action for listeners to join in the celebration and let the music take them on a wild ride, no matter what may come their way.

Overall, "Dead or Alive" is a lively and empowering anthem that encapsulates the joy and freedom that Carnival brings to Trinidad and the wider Caribbean.

Love this song! My favorite part of this video is when the man threw up the papers in the air and left work to go carnival and when the lady all decked out in her costume rips the eviction notice from her door in front of the landlord. This is so true come carnival season. I love my West Indian people. We can be so bareface when it comes to carnival. LMAO!! Nothing's stopping us from jamming in the streets.
