I believe... I believe... I will fly
I believe... I believe... I will fly
精一杯強がる
私の行く先にあなたが見えなくても...
やがて吹く
風に流されるあの雨雲のように
今あなたへの甘えをそっと
どこかへ飛ばそう
I believe... I believe... I will fly
忘れない
この悲しみから新しい道へと
飛び立てる強い力が
この胸にあるはず
I believe... I believe... I will fly
The song "I will fly" by Shiho is a touching and inspirational ballad that speaks to the idea of finding inner strength and perseverance in the face of adversity. The verses describe a scene in which children play and run around under the protection of an adult's large umbrella, serving as a metaphor for the ways in which we rely on others for support and guidance. However, the singer, who feels small and overwhelmed, is unable to find comfort in this umbrella and is brought to tears. She compares her vulnerability to a rain cloud that will eventually be blown away by the wind.
The pre-chorus of the song then shifts to the singer's struggles with finding her own sense of strength, and how she often feels weak and uncertain despite relying on the opinions of others to reassure herself. In the chorus, she then proclaims her belief in herself and her own abilities to overcome, stating that she will "fly" and find a new path forward. The second verse continues this theme of individuality, with the singer acknowledging that everyone grows and blooms in their own unique way and expressing a yearning for greater understanding and empathy towards others.
The final chorus sees the singer taking a more resolute tone, pledging to never forget the lessons learned from her sadness and to embrace the strength within her heart. Ultimately, "I will fly" is a song about perseverance, self-discovery, and the belief in oneself to overcome obstacles and find one's own path in life.

The lack of empathy from all the teachers was what broke me. They acted as if a student committing suicide was a minor inconvenience.

That's how big cities in Japan actually is.
Lennis01
Culturally, suicide attempts are viewed differently in Japan. It's considered a sign of selfishness and disrespect. It's not much of a stretch to see the teachers concerned more about the hit to the school's reputation than about the student herself.

Okay, I have to say, Max Mittelman did a phenomenal job voicing Ryuji in this game, and this scene is a great example of it. You could really hear the emotion in his voice, and you could really feel Ryuji's anger when he talks.

I don't usually appreciate suicide/suicide attempt scenes in media, but I felt that this one was done well. We don't actually see Shiho jump or her subsequent fall, but we see Ann's horrified reaction to watching it. We see the shock and horror as the other students watched. We see how angry Ryuji is about how people react after. This scene is a good example of show, don't tell. They show us everything surrounding Shiho's attempt, but we aren't told exactly what happens. Instead, we see the emotional impact of this on others. Ultimately, I think this is what makes the scene devastating & important, rather than something only included for shock value, like you find in other media.

And this is where hatred for kamoshida truly spiked up for me and also probably the entire fanbase.
