What they wept for day after day
Withered flowers blossom
In the stream of tears
They still think of the cause
Turning misery into meaningfulness
Changing day after day
Changing day after day
Your affection, your affection taking pride from fear
Past will tell you when to make yourself a hero
Your affection, your affection, your affection
Past will tell you when to make yourself a hero
Withered flowers forget
What they wept for day after day
Withered flowers blossom
In the stream of tears
They still think of the cause
Turning misery into meaningfulness
Changing day after day
Turning misery into meaningfulness
Changing day after day
Your affection, your affection taking pride from fear
Past will tell you when to make yourself a hero
Your affection, your affection, your affection
Past will tell you when to make yourself a hero
The lyrics to Shihoko Hirata's song "Your Affection" convey a powerful message of resilience and the transformative power of love and self-belief. The reference to withered flowers that forget what they wept for day after day signifies the weight of past pain and sorrow. However, the song goes on to highlight that even in the face of adversity, these withered flowers are capable of blossoming, symbolizing the ability to overcome and find beauty amidst tears.
The lyrics also touch upon the idea of turning misery into meaningfulness, suggesting that through love and affection, one can find purpose and fulfillment. This concept is emphasized by the repetition of the line "Turning misery into meaningfulness, changing day after day." It emphasizes the idea that with every passing day, one has the opportunity to transform their suffering into something valuable and significant.
The chorus, "Your affection, your affection taking pride from fear, past will tell you when to make yourself a hero," encapsulates the central theme of the song. It speaks of the profound impact that affection and love from others can have on an individual's self-esteem and ability to overcome fear. It suggests that past experiences can serve as a guide, empowering one to become their own hero when the time is right.
