Chad Petree and Jeremy Dawson grew up in Oklahoma and were involved in previous music projects together, including the soundtrack for the videogame Grand Theft Auto III in 2000 and Cloud2Ground. After relocating to Los Angeles, California in 2004, the two recruited vocalist Carah Faye Charnow and drummer Mikey Martin.
Their debut album, We Are Pilots was originally released in January 2005, though versions of the album featuring different cover art and tracklisting would be released later the following year. Three singles were issued: "Le Disko", "You Are the One" and "Rainy Monday". We Are Pilots received a Grammy Award nomination on 6 December 2007 in the category of Best Electronic/Dance Album, but lost to The Chemical Brothers.
The band's second studio album, Season of Poison, was released on 4th November 2008, with Sisely Treasure as vocalist. They have released two singles from their second album: "Ghost Town" and "Ricochet!".
In 2009, Shiny Toy Guns released "Major Tom", a Peter Schilling cover.
In 2011, Carah Faye Charnow returned to Shiny Toy Guns. In addition, Daniel Johansson also joined the band on guitar, synth and bass. In March 2011, the band released a new single "The Sun", available to download for free.
In May 2012 the band announced that Daniel Johansson left the band.

Mercy
Shiny Toy Guns Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
We run away
Falling so we understand
Understand
Fear coming from the minds of men
Mercy won't belong to them
Mercy, raise your cry again
Understand.
Oh, don't let me down
The night's your home
Oh, love won't let you down
Only the night will take you home
We're never gonna die
Mercy sent a miracle
The nights will take us home
Mercy sent a miracle
The nights, the nights
Oh!
Til we walk without a frame
When the voice begin
Til we walk without a frame
When the voice begin
Mercy, leave your shelter in the sky
And never die.
The lyrics of Shiny Toy Guns's song Mercy are an invitation to escape the struggles of daily life and to find refuge in the night. The opening lines, "Hiding from the day, we run away" paint a picture of tired souls seeking a respite from the harshness of reality. The subsequent lines, "Falling so we understand, Understand/Fear coming from the minds of men" convey a sense of desperation and helplessness, as the characters in the song are overwhelmed by their fears and worries.
However, there is a glimmer of hope in the chorus, which introduces the concept of mercy. The lyrics say, "Mercy won't belong to them/Mercy, raise your cry again/Understand/Oh, don't let me down/The night's your home/Oh, love won't let you down/Only the night will take you home." This suggests that mercy is a force that can offer refuge and protection to those who seek it. It highlights the idea that even in the darkest moments, there is always a chance for redemption and hope.
The song ends with the lines "Til we walk without a frame/When the voice begins/Mercy, leave your shelter in the sky/And never die." These lyrics are a plea for a new beginning, a chance for a fresh start, and an end to the cycle of pain and suffering.

Definitely one of the more underrated bands ever. If it weren't for my brother's influence on my music I would have never heard them.
CITIZENS BAND
I'm from Ireland man, and I thought they were going to be huge like U2 but they never really made it. They went on Letterman a few times too but still their music didn't reach a wider audience like I thought it would. Music is so bad today, it beggers belief how anyone is buying music in this day in age the music is so poor.

Such a melodic and emotional song! This song means so much to me!! Thank you STG for sharing such powerful songs to the world!! III is certainly one of the most beautiful and emotional albums of this year. I also recommend listening to the new Smashing Pumpkins album, Oceania if you enjoyed this album. Another album you should check out is Visions by Grimes. I would say III, Oceania, and Grimes are the most beautiful albums of 2012.
