After relocating to Los Angeles, California in 2004, the two recruited vocalist Carah Faye Charnow and drummer Mikey Martin.
Their debut album, We Are Pilots was originally released in January 2005, though versions of the album featuring different cover art and tracklisting would be released later the following year. Three singles were issued: "Le Disko", "You Are the One" and "Rainy Monday". We Are Pilots received a Grammy Award nomination on 6 December 2007 in the category of Best Electronic/Dance Album, but lost to The Chemical Brothers.
The band's second studio album, Season of Poison, was released on 4th November 2008, with Sisely Treasure as vocalist. They have released two singles from their second album: "Ghost Town" and "Ricochet!".
In 2009, Shiny Toy Guns released "Major Tom", a Peter Schilling cover.
In 2011, Carah Faye Charnow returned to Shiny Toy Guns. In addition, Daniel Johansson also joined the band on guitar, synth and bass. In March 2011, the band released a new single "The Sun", available to download for free.

Rainy Monday
Shiny Toy Guns Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
But someone that I'll get
And you don't know how hard I've tried
To convince myself that I could easily forget
But you let this feeling here inside me
One that never fails to find me
On a rainy MondayI feel it inside me
Like the days of summer
On a rainy Monday
I feel it inside me
In the hopes of one day
I won't lie, I still can say that I
Admit we went too far
And you won't see me change my mind
But I really wish that I
Could forget the way you are
On a rainy Monday
I feel it inside me
Like the days of summer
On a rainy Monday
I feel it inside me
In the hopes of one day
I can see that you're not beside me
But I still feel you shine inside of me
[Repeat: x2]
On a rainy Monday
I feel it inside me
Like the days of summer On a rainy Monday
I feel it inside me
In the hopes of one day
"Rainy Monday" by Shiny Toy Guns is a song about unrequited love, and the struggle to forget someone who is not meant to be yours. The singer of the song is in love with someone who does not return their feelings, and they cannot shake off the emotions that they have for this person. They have tried to forget this person, but the feeling of love is still alive and well inside of them. The lyrics convey the melancholy feeling that the singer is experiencing, particularly on a rainy day when their emotions are heightened.
The first verse of the song sets the scene, with the singer acknowledging that their love interest is not theirs to have. Despite this, they are determined to pursue this person and make them theirs. They have tried to convince themselves that they can forget this person, but they cannot shake off the feelings that they have. The chorus repeats the phrase "On a rainy Monday, I feel it inside me" to emphasize the singer's emotional state, particularly on gloomy days. The second verse sees the singer admitting that they went too far with this person, but they cannot change their mind about how they feel. They express their wish to forget about this person, but it seems impossible.
The song "Rainy Monday" by Shiny Toy Guns was released in 2006 and was the band's second single. The song was featured on their debut album, We Are Pilots. The song was a success, particularly among alternative rock fans, and it received extensive airplay on radio stations such as KROQ in Los Angeles. The song was also featured in various television shows and movies, such as The Hills and Transformers.

I don't mind, you're someone that ain't mine
I'm not bothered that you're not officially mine
But someone that I'll get
I have faith that we will be together someday
And you don't know how hard I've tried
I've put in tremendous effort to forget about you
To convince myself that I could easily forget
I tried to make myself believe that I can forget about you easily
But you let this feeling here inside me
But you keep igniting this feeling within me
One that never fails to find me
A feeling that always finds a way to surface
I won't lie, I still can say that I
I won't deceive you, I can confidently say that I
Admit we went too far
Acknowledge that we have gone too far
And you won't see me change my mind
I won't change my stance on this
But I really wish that I
But the truth is, I really want to
Could forget the way you are
Forget about how you make me feel
I can see that you're not beside me
I can tell you're not physically next to me
But I still feel you shine inside of me
But I still feel your light burning within me
On a rainy Monday
Especially on a gloomy Monday
I feel it inside me
I feel this emotional turmoil within me
Like the days of summer
Similar to the days we spent together during summer
In the hopes of one day
With the expectation that someday
On a rainy Monday
Especially on a gloomy Monday
I feel it inside me
I feel this emotional turmoil within me
In the hopes of one day
With the expectation that someday
