Chad Petree and Jeremy Dawson grew up in Oklahoma and were involved in previous music projects together, including the soundtrack for the videogame Grand Theft Auto III in 2000 and Cloud2Ground. After relocating to Los Angeles, California in 2004, the two recruited vocalist Carah Faye Charnow and drummer Mikey Martin.
Their debut album, We Are Pilots was originally released in January 2005, though versions of the album featuring different cover art and tracklisting would be released later the following year. Three singles were issued: "Le Disko", "You Are the One" and "Rainy Monday". We Are Pilots received a Grammy Award nomination on 6 December 2007 in the category of Best Electronic/Dance Album, but lost to The Chemical Brothers.
The band's second studio album, Season of Poison, was released on 4th November 2008, with Sisely Treasure as vocalist. They have released two singles from their second album: "Ghost Town" and "Ricochet!".
In 2009, Shiny Toy Guns released "Major Tom", a Peter Schilling cover.
In 2011, Carah Faye Charnow returned to Shiny Toy Guns. In addition, Daniel Johansson also joined the band on guitar, synth and bass. In March 2011, the band released a new single "The Sun", available to download for free.
In May 2012 the band announced that Daniel Johansson left the band.

Season of Love
Shiny Toy Guns Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Every question
Every answer too
Ever constant
Ever changing you
It's all memory in the sun
Or it's all in the darkness
Maybe it's all around to see
If we try
And maybe it's been inside of me
All this time
[Chorus: x2]
Love love love [Repeat: x3]
Crazy with it
Crazier without
Never certain
Never full of doubt
Now you feel it
Now you don't
Do you know what you're feeling
Where did it come from and where
Does it go
If it were right in front of me
Would I know
[Chorus: x2]
The lyrics of Shiny Toy Guns' "Season of Love" explore the concept of love and how it can be both constant and ever-changing. The opening lines "Every question, every answer too / Ever constant, ever changing you" suggest that love is a complex emotion that is both familiar and dynamic. The lines "It's all memory in the sun / Or it's all in the darkness" further highlight the different facets of love, from joyful memories to painful experiences.
The second verse offers more insight into the nature of love. The lyrics state that it can make one feel crazy with it, but even crazier without it. Love is something that is never certain and can leave one feeling doubtful. However, the lyrics also acknowledge that love can be difficult to understand. It's not always clear where it comes from or where it's going, and it can be hard to recognize when it's right in front of us.
The chorus of "Love love love" seems to suggest that despite its complexities, love is ultimately a beautiful and necessary part of life. The repetition highlights that love is a powerful emotion that can be felt in many different forms. Overall, "Season of Love" offers a thought-provoking exploration of one of the most universal and complex emotions.
