Whether these are intentional or not, here are a few of the other similarities off the top of my head:

1.) Ridley’s visual designs from Super Metroid onwards looks exactly like the Xenomorph’s, aside from the head and added wings. He even uses his tail to attack in the same way.

2.) The titular Metroids start out as larval forms, which hatch out of eggs and latch onto their prey, like Facehuggers. Later on, they can metamorphose into insect/reptile-like forms, and a few of them can become egg-laying queens.

3.) The Chozo statues resemble the fossilized “Space Jockey” from the first alien.

4.) A few other environments bear similarities with those from the Alien franchise, such as the Frigate Orpheon and Splinter Hive.

0:44 I love the 8-bit section here. I think it's important to realize that back in 2001 when Melee was released, this was the first time this theme was heard again in a video game. So to hear it in its pure, original form here at 0:44 probably took a lot of players back to their childhood when they played Metroid on the NES back in the late 80s for the first time, and hearing it seamlessly go back to the modern instrumentation at 0:57 makes that time feel like a distant, fading memory.

Awesome comment!!! I didn't notice they sampled the original.

It’s not “fading” if you don’t write it down for others to read.

you're right

You know what's upsetting? Melee is older to us now than the original Metroid was when this game came out 🙃

Have a nice day!

I didn't grow up with these games in that Era but that's an awesome analysis. Thank You for pointing that out.

I prefer this song more because this sounds eerie. Especially where it looks like alien hell. The newer one just sounds like a graceful battle to me.

Huh, an alien hell, interesting, thank you for giving me a very good idea :).

Describing the depths of an alien planet as their version of hell is very succinct. I like it 🙂

This sounds like A Gothic Battle/Dance to me
