However, he began his rise to prominence in the game music scene for his work on Atlus's PlayStation 2 Megami Tensei games, beginning with Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne in 2003. He would quickly follow up with the guitar-laden Digital Devil Saga and its more electronic oriented sequel, along with Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army. He attained more wide acclaim for his pop-imbued soundtracks for Persona 3 and Persona 4. More recent Shin Megami Tensei works include Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon, both directorial and arranger duties for the PSP remake of the first Persona, new tracks for the PSP port of Persona 3, and dark original compositions for the latest in the main Megami Tensei series, Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey.
He has also composed music for the Trauma series, including Under the Knife and its remake, Second Opinion, along with contributions to its spiritual sequel Trauma Team. Upcoming projects include an original soundtrack for Atlus' dream-induced mystery game Catherine, and arrangements for a PSP port of Persona 2: Innocent Sin which, like PSP Persona 1, Meguro will also be overseeing as director.

The song "Kimi no Kioku" by Shoji Meguro is a touching and sentimental ballad that is designed to evoke powerful emotions of love, loss, and longing. The song's lyrics speak of a person who is deeply in love with someone who has moved on, and is reminiscing about the special memories that they shared together. Despite the pain that they feel, they vow to always remember the other person and to cherish the time that they spent together.
The first verse describes how the wind and the light are both reminders of the person that the singer is missing. They remember their gentle smile, and the sadness that they tried to hide behind their eyes. Despite the pain that they feel, the singer is grateful that they had the courage to stand up for themselves and fight for love. They express faith that they will be reunited with their loved one in their dreams.
The chorus repeats the themes of the song, emphasizing the idea that the singer will never forget the moments that they shared with the person they loved. They express their commitment to protecting the other person, even though they know that they can never truly hold onto them. The second verse describes how the singer hears a voice that reminds them of the person they miss. They imagine what it would be like to see them again, and how they would continue to wait for them, even through the darkest of times.

You look so tired...
It’s ok, you did it. They’re ok, they’re all ok.
So... you can rest. Rest for as long as you like, you deserve it.
I’ll be right here when you wake up, we all will.
Thank you, for everything.

It's pretty amazing that many people come back to this every year, to remember a character and a game and how much they gained from them both.
That said, how much is there really left to say...? I suppose it doesn't matter. That's not why people come here, to provide new insight about the game in any way. It's to simply celebrate that which has become a big part of their life, whether it be as their favourite game, character, or perhaps even something more...I think I can relate in that aspect.
I played this game for the first time during the summer of 2022 and it basically WAS my summer. For almost the entire length of the holidays in-between educational years this game kept me company through what would have otherwise probably been a much quieter and lonelier time for me, and I'm super grateful for that. My enjoyment of it doesn't end there though...
The characters...the music...the gameplay that can get kinda tedious after a while if you're not careful 😅 I truly adore all of it despite it's flaws. Makoto Yuki especially, is a character I think I see a lot of myself in and so coming back to this video, on 3/5, seems like a perfect time to remember everything that this game and this character gave me, and pay my respects to him.
Rest In Peace Makoto, you are sorely missed throughout the rest of this series, and above all else...thank you, for all the joy, tears and lessons about myself that you and your friends gave me. I'll cherish those memories of you all for the rest of my life.
Memento Mori everyone. This was my first time paying my respects since I played P3 for the first time, so apologies for the long ramble but thank you to anyone who took the time to read it. I see you, and I appreciate you :)

Death is a curious thing.
Some believe it marks the end of life, while others see it as the beginning of a new journey.
But what truly remains after we're gone?
Our legacies? Our memories? The bonds we forged with others?
Perhaps it's all of these things...
If our bonds define part of what we are, then our memories define what we were.
Or rather, "how" we were.
Shyer, clumsier...
Lonelier.
Yet somehow, every year we manage to get... stronger.
As time goes by, there are memories that we never want to forget.
For it is the memories we make that define who we are, and the impact we have on others...
That lives on long after we're gone.
Happy March 5th.

When you don't understand the lyrics to a song and just dance to the beat 😅.
This song is depressing AF.
