Has she been asking for me
So hurry up let's go don't want to miss a thing
C'mon love is all we've got and everything in the bottle is gone
So hurry up let's go don't want to miss a thing
So slow down my heart can break in two yes a heart can break in two
And everyone is all dressed up
You came to me and I said yeah yeah yeah
The lyrics to "9. Hurry Up Let's Go" by the Shout Out Louds depict a conflicted protagonist who is questioning the trustworthiness of his loved one. The opening line, "You're a lie I don't believe a thing," suggests that the singer has caught his partner in a lie or is struggling to trust her for some reason. He then questions whether she has been seeking him out with the line, "Has she been asking for me?" This line could be interpreted in two ways - either the singer is unsure if his partner has been inquiring after him, or he is questioning whether she is interested in fixing their relationship.
The chorus of the song urges his partner to hurry up and join him, as he fears he will miss out on something important if they do not act quickly. He pleads that "love is all we've got," perhaps alluding to the idea that they can only depend on each other. The line "everything in the bottle is gone" could be interpreted as a reference to alcohol or perhaps an allusion to feeling like they have used up all their resources trying to fix their relationship. He then repeats that his heart can break in two, suggesting that there are high stakes involved in this interaction.
In the final verse, the singer urges his partner to go with him and "break this heart in two." It is unclear whether this is a positive or negative thing, but it could be interpreted as an attempt to rebuild their relationship by starting fresh. The last line, "You came to me and I said yeah yeah yeah," could be interpreted in several ways - either as an enthusiastic affirmation of his partner's decision to join him, or as a feeling of resignation mixed with bitterness.
Overall, the lyrics of "9. Hurry Up Let's Go" explore the complicated dynamics of trust, intimacy, and vulnerability in a romantic relationship. The singer is struggling to trust his partner but ultimately wants to repair the relationship and move forward together.

My mom used to always tell me that when I was little, I'm 41 now, that every time this song came on I would drop what I was doing and run into the room and just stand there listening. She died 3 weeks ago. Brings me good memories of her. 😊
