And the times we had were so and so
It was the worst date of your life
So I called your home
Your so-called father was on the phone
He wasn't easy to ignore
But we're all happy 'cause the streets they're always there for us
It's getting darker and I know this time wasn't meant for us
So won't you please, please, please come back to me
But yesterday when I saw your eyes in a black haze
You didn't even know my name
So I walked on pretending that you still belong
But it would never be the same no more
But we're all happy 'cause the streets they're always there for us
And it's quite scary when you wake up in the same old clubs
It's getting darker and I know this time wasn't meant for us
So won't you please, please, please come back to me
It's like a picture of a loved one in disguise
Or it's like finding something pretty in a jar of flies
And if you want just hide your eyes behind your hair
But you can't see me then, no, you can't find me anywhere
But we're all happy 'cause the streets they're always there for us
And it's quite scary when you wake up in the same old clubs
It's getting darker and I know this time wasn't meant for us
So won't you please, please, please come back to me
Come back to me
Please please please
Please please please
The lyrics of Please Please Please by Shout Out Louds are about a failed relationship that left the singer feeling lost and wanting their partner back. The song starts with a reference to a bad date that the singer had with their partner a long time ago, which leads to the singer calling the partner's house and having an unpleasant conversation with their father. The chorus emphasizes the importance of the streets and clubs as a comforting constant in the singer's life, despite everything else feeling uncertain.
The second verse sees the singer encountering their former partner and realizing that they don't recognize each other. The singer tries to pretend that things could go back to how they were, but deep down they know that it's impossible. The bridge has cryptic imagery about something beautiful hiding in a jar of flies, and the final chorus repeats the desperate plea for the partner to come back.
The song captures the frustration and confusion of a relationship ending, with the singer trying to hold onto anything familiar while also acknowledging that it's time to move on.

I saw them live 9 years ago at a small festival called "Putte i Parken" in Karlstad, Sweden. They had one of the smallest stages, which was a theatre stage so it had seating rows but nobody was sitting down, in fact every single person there was up on their feet dancing, jumping and singing along. And when the audience called them back on stage, they came back out with their hands over their mouths looking completely shocked, and then the singer Adam Olenius admitted that they had never been called back to the stage at a festival before. One of the best concerts I've ever been to, and I I've been to plenty.
