Shun is the only band in today's music scene putting this emotion and dynamics into their songs to create a style not yet seen in music today. They tend to stay away from trendy beats and originate their own style instead of imitating others.
Shun has played many shows covering the southeast from Nashville to New Orleans, playing with many known bands such as The Urge, Stuck Mojo, and Nothingface. By playing with these bands shun was able to develop their name throughout the Southeast. Releasing a locally recorded demo in December of 1998 they sold over 1200 copies and have been on several college stations and the local buzz 102.9. Shun has set out to be the next wave of long lasting music with a sound completely original yet familiar and with an intelligence level strong enough to capture both young and old. Shun will be pressing their new style until dreams and destiny are accomplished.
Shun has released 2 CDs. An EP entitled Promising (2000) and a full-length titled Michael In Reign (2001)

There are multiple groups named Shun, but one belongs to the legendary Japanese electronic mastermind Susumu Hirasawa. Hirasawa's group made experimental electronic music during the 80's similar in vibe to Susumu's other work, but with a more hypnotic compositional style.
Piece By Piece
Shun Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Even though it's killing me, for a moment it felt so good, to have your blood in my veins.
I don't need your sympathy, I just want you away from me, so turn and just let this go.
(Chorus) You can't wait... It's just to bad it's gone, and you didn't think we'd learn. You can stay here on this blanket of cold, and die on the bridge we burned... And we learn.
But you have never done anything to teach me how to think and you expect me to know.
(chorus)
You get served more than words....
If it's all been written; why? This book is an open lie. My mind is the page that is torn.
Took it all. When your confronted. You weep. Stumble. Keep running. You wait. But you cannot wait too long.
(chorus)
Took it all away. When you are confronted, you cannot stay in your own world. If you just think that I would wait around for more; that's absurd.
In "Piece by Piece," Shun dives deep into the emotions of pain, hurt, and betrayal. The opening lines, "I can almost feel the pain, rushing in like 10 foot waves, tearing me down to the bone," paint a vivid picture of the intensity of the pain that the singer is feeling. They feel like they are being destroyed by the overwhelming surge of emotions.
He goes on to reveal that even though it's hurting him, there was a moment when he enjoyed feeling the connection he had with the person who hurt him. But, now he wants them away from his life, and he doesn't crave sympathy. The chorus is a clear message to the person who hurt him, stating that they can't wait for the past to come back because it's gone, and they didn't learn their lesson. He also subtly reminds them that they were complicit in the destruction of their relationship, and they can't pin all the blame on him.
In the second verse, Shun talks about how the person who hurt him never taught him how to think, but they expect him to know better. The third and final verse is a call to the person who hurt him: telling them that they can't keep running from their mistakes, and he won't wait forever for them to get their act together. In conclusion, "Piece by Piece" is a powerful song about moving on from a toxic relationship and the pain that comes with it.

I can almost feel the pain, rushing in like 10 foot waves, tearing me down to the bone.
The intensity of the pain is so high that it feels like surging waves of 10 feet height and it's penetrating deep into the bones.
Even though it's killing me, for a moment it felt so good, to have your blood in my veins.
The singer acknowledges that even though the relationship is literally killing them, they can't discount the fact that being with their partner felt good for at least once.
I don't need your sympathy, I just want you away from me, so turn and just let this go.
The singer is making a firm and clear statement that they don't need their partner's sympathy but they want them to go away from their lives.
(Chorus) You can't wait... It's just too bad it's gone, and you didn't think we'd learn. You can stay here on this blanket of cold, and die on the bridge we burned... And we learn.
The chorus is a declaration that the partner who didn't give credence to the not-so-positive aspects of their relationship must suffer the consequences of their actions and learn a lesson from it.
You could always place the blame on someone you left alone. Helpless... fending their own.
The artist points out that their partner can't play the blame game and portray themselves as victims by leaving the other person helpless with their own battles.
But you have never done anything to teach me how to think and you expect me to know.
The singer highlights the irony in their partner's expectation of expecting them to know while not willing to teach them anything or guide them through the process.

I like searching a lot for songs and I have a particular taste. Then I saw this song and I loved it :DD they reminded me a lot of VexRed and Septembre. I was lucky enough and yesterday I did a lot of research and the vocalist for the band ended up sharing all the sings with me, including demos. A really nice guy :)

I still have this CD. My old band Reflex from the early 2000βs used to play with this group in Tennessee. Still friends with the singer Billy to this day.
