Looking beyond what you already knew
Stepping outside
Outside of yourself and letting go
Pa-da-da-de-dooh
Si*Sé's song Steppin' Out is a fantastic representation of letting oneself go and discovering what lies beyond one's understanding. The first line, "Looking beyond," denotes the urge to escape one's routine or common ways of perceiving things. The singer suggests that sometimes one has to push beyond their comfort zone to unlock new possibilities in life. The next line states, "Looking beyond what you already knew." These lyrics imply that one has to be willing to relearn or acquire new information to achieve growth in life. In other words, one must let go of previously held assumptions and beliefs to grow and evolve.
The chorus of the song, "Stepping outside, Outside of yourself and letting go" reinforces the message of escaping self-imposed limitations. This line suggests that one must be willing to let go of their fears and experiment with things that are different from what they usually do. The final line of the chorus "Pa-da-da-de-dooh" is an exclamation that emphasizes the upbeat, lively tone of the song. It contributes to the positive message of the song by inviting listeners to let go of their worries and dance or have fun.
