Sunday
Sia Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

For those who've slept
For those who've kept
Themselves jacked up
How Jesus wept
Sunday
Sunday

For those in need
For those who speed
For those who try to slow their minds with weed
Sunday
Sunday

For those who wake
With a blind headache
Who must be still
Who will sit and wait
For Sunday, to be Monday

Yeah, it will be okay
Do nothing today
Give yourself a break
Let your imagination run away

For those with guilt
For those who wilt
Under pressure
No tears over spilt milk
Sunday
Sunday

Sunday
Sunday
Sunday

Yeah, it will be okay
Do nothing today
Give yourself a break
Let your imagination run away

Yeah, it will be okay
Do nothing today

Give yourself a break
Let your imagination run away

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Sia's song "Sunday" are about taking a break and relaxing from the stresses of life. The first two stanzas are for people who have kept themselves up or have been using drugs to try to cope with their problems. The line "how Jesus wept" refers to how even the son of God cried at the troubles of the world. The repetition of "Sunday" throughout the song emphasizes the day of rest and relaxation.

The next stanza is for people who are in need, whether it be a need for speed or a need to slow their minds with weed. The word "Sunday" acts as a reminder that they can take a break from their troubles and relax. The following stanza addresses those who wake up with a headache and just need to sit still and wait for Sunday, the day of rest.

The chorus repeats the idea that it's okay to take a break and do nothing. Giving oneself a break and allowing the imagination to run wild is crucial for mental well-being. The final stanza is for those who feel guilty or are feeling pressure, reminding them that it's okay to let go and not stress over small things.

Overall, "Sunday" by Sia is a reminder to take care of oneself and to give oneself a break from the stresses of life.

Now that she's becoming more famous they should re-release a lot of her old songs like this one and pictures. I bet they'd be big hits. :)

Wow! This commented was probably posted sometime when We Are Born was released. Maybe even Titanium. But very few people knew her. And today she has more music videos with over a million views than any other female artist. It's crazy! She deserves it all. Stay safe! 😊

naah many songs of her are EQUALLLY GREAT

@tessiepinkman

Honestly, out of all the songs Sia has dropped, this is still my favorite. I remember finding her music back in like 2003/2004 (I'm not 100% sure about the year, but it was something like that) and being completely mesmerized. When I first heard this song I fell in love with it instantly. This will always stay my favorite song of hers, I believe, and that says quite a lot, 'cause she has released some real bangers through the years. There's just something so wonderful about the scaled back sound and the lyrics. It's a truly, truly great song.

I want to see the HD version.
