By this point, the band had relocated to America -- with Mileski replaced by new drummer Mark Goodwin -- and soon landed a deal with Virgin Records. Sick Puppies' sophomore LP, Dressed Up as Life, arrived in April of 2007. The exposure brought to them by the Free Hugs video helped the single "All the Same" reach number eight on Billboard's Modern Rock chart. Their second U.S. single, "My World," also reached number 20 on the Modern Rock chart and was followed by three more singles in 2008. Working with American production team Rock Mafia, Sick Puppies' delivered their third album, Tri-Polar, in 2009, which rose to number 31 on the U.S. Billboard 200. Less than a year later, they released the EP Live & Unplugged, which contained acoustic versions of songs from the album. A second companion EP, this one called Polar Opposite and also containing acoustic versions of songs from Tri-Polar, appeared in 2011. Produced again by Rock Mafia, their fourth album, Connect, fared even better, reaching number 17 on the Top 200 in the summer of 2013. In spite of their rising success, Connect would prove to be their last album with founding member Moore, who left the band in late 2014. Within days of this announcement, Anzai was approached by Texas-born singer and guitarist Bryan Scott, whose audition tape quickly landed him the job as Moore's replacement. The new lineup began writing and recording material for their fourth album, teasing with a new single, "Stick to Your Guns," in early 2016.

War
Sick Puppies Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Faking falls
Stop and stall
Take it all
Fact is, I'm taking mine
I'm taking mine
Out of luck
Should've stood up when you had the time
But you're out of time
Let's do this (fight, fight)
Lock and load (fight)
Rock and roll
Bitch, it's all over (fight)
You're going down (fight)
You're going down (fight)
Get ready to settle the score
And get ready to face the floor
'Cause it's time to remember it (war)
This is war
And it's on tonight
So get up and fight
Get up and fight
You had all your life
To run and hide
Now step up, now step up
Let's do this
Sat around
Going down
How about a little reaction, man?
You can barely stand
Bitch slap, slow attack
Man, that was practically suicide
Next in line
(Here we go)
Fight
Fight
Fight
Fight
Fight
Fight
Fight
Fight
Get ready to settle the score
And get ready to face the floor
'Cause it's time to remember it (war)
This is war
And it's on tonight
So get up and fight
Get up and fight
You had all your life
To run and hide
Now step up, now step up
Let's do this
'Cause we're all about ready to break
Yeah, we're all about ready to break
Yeah, we're all about ready to break
Yeah, we're all about ready to break
This is war
And it never ends
So get up, get up, get up, get up
You had all your life
To run and hide
Now step up, now step up
This is war (and it never ends)
This is war (and it never ends)
This is war
Let's do this
Let's do this
Fight
Fight

The lyrics of Sick Puppies's song War are a call to action that urges individuals to stand up for themselves and fight back against whatever injustices they have experienced. The song is about being pushed to the brink by circumstances, and then finally unleashing a wave of aggression and determination to overcome them. The lines "Faking falls, stopping tall, take it all" indicate that the singer has had to pretend to be weak to avoid conflict, but is now prepared to assert their strength and claim what is rightfully theirs. The exhortation to "Get up and fight" is repeated throughout the song, indicating that the singer is not going to back down or be defeated.
The lyrics are filled with imagery that highlights the violent nature of the struggle being portrayed. The line "Lock and load, rock and roll" suggests both military and musical metaphors, with the idea of preparing weapons juxtaposed with the frenzied energy of a rock anthem. The use of the word "bitch" is also confrontational, adding to the sense of tension and aggression in the song. In the line "This is war, and it never ends," there is a suggestion that the struggle is ongoing and that all battles must be fought with determination and resilience.
Overall, the lyrics of War contain a powerful message about standing up for oneself and fighting back against the challenges of life. The song taps into the primal urge to confront our problems head-on and overcome them, offering a cathartic experience for listeners.
