Away
Side's Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
A way with me
Not a stone's throw away
Pray for thee
Watch and pray with me
Stay with me
While the morning bleeds
Watch with me
An hour at least
I see your willing but
Your flesh is weak
Father hear my plea
Hear my plea
This cup is mine to bear
Angels strengthen me
See the hour is come
They've come from me
The lyrics to Side's song "Away" describe the memories of two friends who started their journey together in school. They talk about how they were able to kill boredom with music and conversations before being introduced to women and drugs. They reminisce about their past, where they faced a lot of struggles and how they couldn't wait to leave school. However, now that they've grown up, they realize that those struggles were nothing compared to the real-world problems that they are currently facing.
The lyrics repeatedly say "stay away," which could mean several things. Firstly, they could be referring to the people or situations that they were involved with in the past. They might have realized the negative impact of those people or situations on their lives and are trying to warn themselves to stay away. Or, they could also be referring to the current problems they are facing and are trying to distance themselves from those situations.
The chorus talks about how they used to sit at the back of the class, listening to music and dreaming about their future. They would share their headphones with each other and take advantage of every opportunity to avoid classes. They found thrill in hanging out with friends and smoking marijuana. They rebelled against the school system and were determined to stay true to themselves. The song paints a picture of memories that they share of their adolescence and the struggles and joys of growing up.
