The name is an abbreviation that is spelled as "super-intelligentes Drogenopfer" = "super intelligent drug victim". However this is the new interpretation while originally the name did spell as "Scheisse in Dein Ohr" = "shit (goes) into your ears".
In 2004, Sido's debut album, "Maske" ("Mask"), sold more than 100,000 copies in less than a month. In September of that year, the rapper won a prestigious German music award for "Best Newcomer". The best known song from that album, "Mein Block", describes life in the Maerkisches Viertel, a ghetto-like district of Berlin.
Sido has been spurting a lot of controversies. Most of his personal information is kept under blankets, not even the personal name or birthday is being confirmed by official records. Rumours say that the stage person is fully fictitious including its alleged background in a criminal ghetto. While some of his provocative aggressive songs have been banned many fans like to interpret the lyrics as a satirical on widespread prejudices about the life in so-called "problem districts".

Ich dachte ich bleibe forever young, doch that shit is over
Dass Raprentner und Exgangster hier laut „What is born" schreien
Ya know I mean son, Pampers , Baggyjeans an

The song "Seniorenstatus" by Sido is an ode to his longevity in the German hip-hop scene. The lyrics reflect his pride in his roots and the early days of the genre that he helped shape. The opening lines, "Ich bin von der alten Schule, wie 'Es war einmal'" (I'm from the old school, like 'Once upon a time') set the tone for his reflections on a career that spans decades. He refuses to let his age (he references using a cane and carrying a catheter bag) dictate his worth as a rapper, proclaiming that "immer noch ist keiner besser als wir" (still no one is better than us).
Sido also touches on the idea of being a "hip-hop grandpa," a term he embraces with pride. He and fellow rapper Samy Deluxe, who he compares to ZZ Top, have a "Seniorenstatus" in the hip-hop scene. He acknowledges the presence of newer, younger rappers in the game, but asserts that his experience and influence cannot be surpassed. The chorus repeats the lines, "Wir sind Hip-Hop-Opas, doch wir machen immer noch Hits" (We're hip-hop grandpas, but we're still making hits).
The song also has a tongue-in-cheek quality, with Sido joking about how he can't remember his own lyrics and needs a prompter on stage. He also pokes fun at the trend of young rappers trying to act tough and encourages them to embrace their youth instead of trying to be something they're not.
Overall, "Seniorenstatus" is a celebration of Sido's legacy and his pride in being a part of the German hip-hop scene. He doesn't let age define him, and instead uses his experience and influence to continue making music that resonates with fans new and old.
