The daughter of guitarist, Billy Swan, sultry-pop chanteuse Sierra Swan grew up with music in her soul. After her first major label (MCA Records) alternative rock duo Dollshead broke up in 1999, she spent her time creating new material for a solo record and signing with Atlantic Records. During that time she also collaborated with Chad Hugo of the Neptunes and also recorded some vocal tracks for the rock band Cold. She did complete her debut "Queen Of The Valley" (titled "Queen of the Valley Girls" at the time), but after being dropped by the label, it would was not find release until 2008.
After she met singer-songwriter Linda Perry she began to blossom. The two wrote and recorded Swan's official debut solo album, Ladyland, released on Interscope Records in 2006. "Her voice will take you on an emotional journey," said Perry. "Beautiful, erotic, mesmerizing, captivating and suspenseful is everything that comes to mind when listening to Sierra Swan." For Swan, music was a way to cope with the hardships in her life, especially after her mother passed away. Performing her honest and personal music became the ultimate form of therapy. "I realized that performing is like a little high, and I guess you could say it's the healthiest drug I've ever done," confesses Swan.
Queen Of The Valley was released in 2008 on Sierra's own label, Swan World Records. The album featured collaborations with Chad Hugo, Scooter Ward, Linda Perry, Anne Preven and Scott Cutler from Ednaswap.
In 2009 she released her third album, Girl Who Cried Wolf on Swan World Records. Carina Round is featured on two tracks, and subsequently Sierra is also featured on a track for Carina Round's album Tigermending.
Her latest EP "The Sun Sessions"was recorded in 2011 at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis. This EP was produced by Sierra Swan and her father, Billy Swan, and was recorded in just 2 days. This is also the first project Sierra has done with her father.
Sierra is currently working towards a fourth album.

Mother
Sierra Swan Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
How we wish, we could kiss you
Such gloomy days
Since you went away
But then I remembered
What you always wanted to do
So I guess you're sitting pretty
So I know it's so fitting
Cause now you're with
Jesus, and Joseph, and Mary
Papa, you miss her
How you wish, you could kiss her
Such blue, blue days
You wanna make love, but she's gone away
But dad, you've got to remember
What she always wanted to do
So you know she's sitting pretty
She always wanted to meet the Virgin Mary
So you know it's so fitting
Cause now she's with
Jesus, and Joseph, and Mary
Yeah
But we got to remember
What she always wanted to do
So we know she's sitting pretty
She always wanted to meet the Virgin Mary
So I guess it's so fitting
Cause now she's with
Jesus, and Joseph, and Mary
So you know she's sitting pretty
She always wanted to meet the Virgin Mary
So I guess it's so fitting
Cause now she's with
Jesus, and Joseph, and Mary
Mama, I miss you
The song "Mother" by Sierra Swan is a touching tribute to a mother who has passed away. The song begins with the lyrics "Mama, we miss you, How we wish we could kiss you," which show how much the singer misses their mother. The lines "such gloomy days since you went away" illustrate the sadness the singer and their family feel after their mother's death. However, the song takes a hopeful turn when the singer remembers what their mother always wanted to do - to meet the Virgin Mary. The singer believes that their mother is now with Jesus, Joseph, and Mary and is "sitting pretty." The song addresses the father as well and how he also misses the mother and wants to make love to her. But just like the daughter, the father also remembers the mother's wish of meeting the Virgin Mary and finds solace in the thought that she has now achieved her wish.
The song captures the sorrow and longing that people feel after the death of a loved one. It also speaks to the idea of finding hope and comfort in the memory of a person's life and the things they cared about. The singer is consoling themselves and their father, saying that their mother is now with Jesus, Joseph, and Mary, and that she is "sitting pretty" because she has finally achieved her wish of meeting the Virgin Mary. Overall, the song is about finding peace in the memory of a loved one and the belief that they are in a better place.

Another great presentation from this artist that is so talented. Her 'body' of work is most impressive! An oasis in the parched desert wasteland we call 'music' today.
