This is so scary...used to happen with a boyfriend's baby niece. It's somehow triggered by angry crying. Back then, like 30 years ago, they were told by the doctor to splash water on her face. It worked. By the way, she turned out just fine and has her own children and a career.

From experience in this situation, blow on the area where their eyebrows meet like you’re blowing away an annoying cotton flint. The baby will come out of it right away and finish off their crying without passing out. This method has been used in our family for generations.

This happened to my daughter when she was a baby when I gave her medicine ( prescribed by her doctor) while she was very sick. It scared me so bad I called an ambulance! I thought maybe she’s having a allergic reaction. But I blowed on her face out of desperation and she began to breath again. A fire truck of emt’s came and educated me how babies do this sometimes too. Nothing scared me more than this when she was a baby.

20 years ago I could find NOTHING on the internet when this used to happen to my son! It was THE scariest thing I had ever encountered. It was always triggered by him being overly tired, thus causing temper crying. I called the ambulance twice and rushed him to the hospital once where they found nothing and had no explanation. He would also stiffen and arch and have mini seizures where the back of his tongue clicked. One episode his eyeballs dilated and I believed that I had lost my loving, happy son to brain damage! I thought he no longer had brain function. For 30 minutes he just stared off in space and didn't make any eye contact or engage with me at all. As EMS was with me, he began to come around and after taking a 2 hour nap, he was back to his usual happy self! I'm so glad mothers can now know what these are! No amount of slapping them on the back or blowing in their face will snap them out of it. They will only come out of it after they pass out from lack of oxygen. It's a VERY scary thing to watch your child go through.

My 4 week old has done this twice. It's scary because their face starts turning purple. Mine only did it for 5 seconds, and he was already super purple. Blew on his face, nose area and he came back. You can tell when they're leading to this kind of breath holding their cries start cracking, then the next few will lead to this. I started stopping it by blowing in his face before it got to this. It sucks and it's scary.

@Sheza Saad have you taken your baby to the doctor? If your child was cleared of any health issues, then the safest thing to do is to place your baby in a safe place (like a crib or bassinet) and walk away to get your frustration out. Yell, smack something, make sure to take time to calm down before going back to deal with baby. As long as you are calm, you will not accidentally harm the baby. Your baby also feeds off your energy, so if you're anxious then the baby will be too.

@Sheza Saad or are you saying he may be having focal seizures and he sleeps for a long time after? If that is the case, call NEUROLOGY. It's important to figure out if your baby is seizuring. They will cause brain damage if they seize for over 5 minutes

Im 19 and this still happens as a natural thing to me... i dislike crying but when crying alone... all my muscles tense up and i curl up unconsciously also holding my breath. After that gasp of air it feels so much better and like a huge weight has been relieved.

Our daughter started this at 4 months old and at 10 months started to have seizures afterwards. We had up to 72 episodes of syncope in one month. She continued this for years, her last episode being at 6 years old. It is incredibly scary

My brother did that. We absolutely lost our minds because he turned so blue. The doctor told us to just flip him upside down to make it stop and it worked almost immediately every time. Never stopped being terrifying though.

No form of blowing will help nor cold water nor light taps on the thighs best advice I can give you is lay him flat on the ground in case he holds his breath so long he has a seizure, my son only had one in his whole life he’s 13 now. It’s scary but momma you got this !

I get this lady got scared but shaking and bouncing them around isn't going to help. You just have to make sure they are in a safe place and let them pass out and they'll wake up a few seconds later. Remember, when you panic, your baby panics.

My son did this all the time he’s grown out of it mostly but I still do it as an adult just with out the crying part il be doing something and realize it not breathing and start gasping for air never knew this was an actual thing thought it was normal until I seen my son doing it when he would cry I would have to flip him over and pay his back or find any way to trigger his body to let out the breath very scary when it’s an infant

This is one of the many reasons I refuse to have kids and married someone that doesn't want any. They've got too many things that can go wrong....mostly, though, it's because I have no patience for crying. They do it too much, too long, and too loud.

Babies only cry if some need is not being met. They need to alert an adult to come over and help them since they cannot help themselves.

After a while, parents/caretakers develop a pattern so the baby will cry less.

Solutions is: many people told us to visit one of the person in local he ties an some small piece of copper plate to his neck that’s working. Even many others told it will start working from day1.. I really can’t believe.

@Sheza Saad i really understand parents pain in such situations, I showed my son to 9 different doctors, all of told it’s natural , but I couldn’t stop , I checked with many othes few told me to meet that person who ties copper. I m really happy now. May be science may prove this in future but now it’s working for my son.

I did those at that age! My parents took me to every dr possible.. every treatment also homeopathic, putting my head in the freezer while having an episode.. they couldn’t find any cause, at that time it was thought that it was kind of a tantrum and it was controlled by the baby..

Nowadays I’m medicated for my anxiety and panic attacks ~~among other things~~ and some studies correlate both episodes, the ones that happened as a baby and then manifest in other shape and form as you grow

this happend to my baby he's 7 weeks old. He goes to neurologist here soon to try to get a diagnosis the er and pediatrician said it's probably this.

@Sheza Saad awww don't panic. He'll be OK. I turned blue and passed out at least once a week and my parents eventually just left me there until in got up. His instinct to breathe will return when he is calm 😌
