I was bullied in school, I fought back as well, but never pulled a knife at school and if I did I would comply once police start issuing commands. I have 4 assaults on record in school, from my history the school failed him and also his family. To put the blame on a cop who doesn't know him wielding 2 knifes in the middle of a school day surrounded by classmates not complying is wrong. Everyone is avoiding the blame even the dad.

I was bullied too. The bully was a head taller than me, and I would fight back. Used to always come back home with bruises as I was getting bullied at least twice a week. Teacher knew about this and tried but kept on failing, and the school did not do anything about this as well. Once the bully even punched me with a thin stick and tried to whip me with it. Never got hit cos my friend came and defended me and he took a few hits. The school knew about all of these incidents and, besides one teacher, never did anything about it

Idk... my brother was one of the tiniest ones out of all of his friends in the friend group. They told him it's either, he fights one or all. Afterwards, it would always be posted. He had people bullying and trying to jump him, but as far as I know, he never brought any weapons. He learned how to take and give an ass whooping. I guess you just never know.

The problem is the kids not running away elevates the situation for the cop. It’s no longer “kid with knives in the quad” it becomes “kid with knives swinging at dozens of other kids in close proximity” and if the any of those spectators would have been hurt that cop would have lost his job and probably been sued.

@InformationOverload School dont step in. Point blank period. The ONLY time schools step in, in my experience, is when the person getting bullied fights back. Then the victim gets in trouble and still nothing happens to the bully.

1:12 the cop used a gun because a knife is a deadly weapon and can kill you with one slash in the right spot. If a taser didn’t work, and the kid came charging, their wouldn’t have been enough time to unholster his sidearm. Sad situation all around, and I hope this kid can get the proper help he needs to hopefully live a happy full life.

As someone who was bullied, and who has had anger/ mental health issues, this is just stupid on both the school, kid, and father's part. No matter what you don't bring a weapon because that will make you the one who gets in the most trouble even if you have no intention of using it other than to scare the person, the most you can do is get on the ground and curl up covering the important areas of your body, and after everything you go to the school district and get them involved. Because clearly the dad knew and so did the school. The dad could have gotten in contact with someone from the school district. Or, if someone was going to beat him up or has been already they should have gotten the police involved.

I understand why the father questioned the officer on why he used his firearm instead of his taser, but hear me out. First, the officer was under pressure by all the students surrounding both him and the armed student. Second, the student was armed with 2 knives walking up to students and backing off. Third, tasers don’t always function properly. It’s a 50/50 chance it’ll connect and stop the student. It was either the student possibly harming other students or the officer, or the officer taking the shot and preventing a terrible situation from happening.

“Tell if u can y the officer pulled his side arm and not his tazzer.” I think they mean taser, but the reason is because officers have the job of keeping the peace and they respond with deadly force if the suspect has deadly force. And what most people don’t know is tasers fail 50% of the time, and within a certain distance of the suspect, a knife can stab you before you can draw a firearm and protect yourself. Its common sense.

Does it? Seems like they looked out for everyone in danger and eliminated the threat. Here's the facts. That's a public school. It's for producing workers and future taxpayers. You seem to want too much from something you likely have no stake in. If they prioritize that kid in that environment they waste a lot of effort. That's the model today. Lump them all in and sort them out later. We used to sort them out early and lump them all in.
Back in the day they'd send him to a child psychologist, medicate him, put him on a short bus, and send him to the separate school with all the other problem children and specially trained teachers. There, he would learn at a pace that didn't overwhelm him. He'd develop with his peers. He'd go to trade school. Get married, have kids, and eventually be prosecuted for child pornography. At least he'd be paying taxes and contributing in the interim. Now? Waste of life. No return on investment.

I have sympathy, but there's no excuse for not obeying orders when police show up. Had he only intended on protecting himself, he wouldn't have kept acting in such a threatening manner after police arrived.
