Wash Away
Silent Pilot Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We are, the end of time, taking over your mind.
Pulling strings in your heart (so you feel).
Nothing, begging for change by streetlight.
We are, the wasted youth, we walk all over the sun.
Steal the light when it's done, under you.
Darkness, begging for change with a blind sight.
God could never hear us beg as loud as we shout this.
Somehow the world will fall as we found it.
All in all.
It's all about the price you pay.
Repeating all the same mistakes, again, and we know it.
Forget the world and burn like we own it.
It's over now, so let it all.
Wash away.
We are, the selfless types, that play with your love.
Breaking hearts all for fun, all around.
Somedays, we live to forget what it's like...
God could never hear us beg as loud as we shout this.
Somehow the world will fall as we found it.
All in all.
It's all about the price you pay.
Repeating all the same mistakes, again, and we know it.
Forget the world and burn it like we own it.
It's over now, so let it all.
Wash away...
To burn the houses you light the fire.
To feel some type of way. (You'll never change).
Your obsession to right the wrong.
Like you know it all.
But we are the ones that will say...(WE ALL, WE ALL, WASH AWAY)...
God could never hear us beg as loud as we shout this.
Somehow the world will fall as we found it.
All in all.
It's all about the price you pay.
Repeating all the same mistakes, again, and we know it.
Forget the world and burn it like we own it.

It's over now, so let it all.
Wash away...(WE ALL, WE ALL, WASH AWAY)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Silent Pilot's song "Wash Away" contain a powerful message about the destructive tendencies of humanity. The opening lines, "We are, the end of time, taking over your mind. Pulling strings in your heart (so you feel)" suggest that humanity is responsible for its own downfall by making selfish and destructive choices. The lyrics also speak to the universal human experience of feeling lost and begging for change, represented by the line "Nothing, begging for change by streetlight. Darkness, begging for change with blind sight."

The chorus of the song speaks to the cyclical nature of humanity's mistakes- "It's all about the price you pay. Repeating all the same mistakes, again, and we know it. Forget the world and burn like we own it. It's over now, so let it all. Wash away." Despite knowing that repeating past mistakes will lead to destruction, humanity seems unable to break the cycle. The verse "To burn the houses you light the fire. To feel some type of way (You'll never change). Your obsession to right the wrong. Like you know it all" highlights the selfish motivations behind these destructive actions.

Overall, "Wash Away" is a powerful commentary on humanity's ability to destroy itself through individual and collective choices.
