The duo has collaborated with a diverse range of artists, including Dua Lipa, Daniel Merriweather, Mapei, GoldLink, Ellie Goulding, and Desiigner.

In August 2017, Diplo mentioned that he and Mark Ronson were working on a collaborative disco album, hinting at the project that would eventually become Silk City. The name "Silk City" appears to be a tribute to the Philadelphia venue and diner where Diplo began his DJ career. The duo had their first live performance at Governors Ball music festival. This festival also featured Jack White, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Eminem, N.E.R.D, and Travis Scott.

Both Diplo and Mark Ronson have had successful careers in their respective music ventures.
