Once upon a bright moon the Beat set out on a drunkard mission to mulligans bar. All the while Silk was to stay home and more than likely play video games and have personal time for personal attention, but luckily a family member convinced him to go out. A mutual friend of the two had been trying to coheres the Beat and Silk to meet and harmoniously philander. Long story short, drinks are drunk, shots get shot, and smokes get lit. Voila! SFB was made in the back of a ford fusion with smoke and dreams! Then, along came a Flamingo who was kin to The Beat with knowledge and experience in the world of Art. Minute by minute frames of music and creativity were instilled, kindled, and inspired to all three by a taste for Rock N Roll...
With modern day influences the likes of Black Keys, Modest Mouse, and Kings of Leon, it is easy to find yourself completely engulfed or subconsciously tapping your foot to one of SFB's songs asking "Who is this?". Priority one, to be that song playing in the background at your backyard barbecue while having a beer making you wish the night never ends! This feel good music, like love, is unconditional. Their music knows no limits, boundaries, and above all else is sincere in the rawest passion! Whether your singing along with their Debut album song title "Trails", jazzing it up with some horns on a "New York Walk", or pumping your fist to new punk delinquent anthem "Skateboarder", SIlk Flamingo & the Beat is sure to keep you on your toes with there never-ending foray of stylistically different songs!
SFB or SFatB, which ever you prefer, has been noted by local El Paso Texan Magazine, "Rhythm and Rhyme", as one of El Paso's new up and coming bands. Four years in the making their debut album "Trails" is finally out and complete with debut music video of the title track and do these cats deliver! SFB is a song pumping machine. With over 3 hrs worth of original music their work both new/old or in its original form can be found on myspace, soundcloud, or an old cd left lying around the practice studio. Catch them at a show and just ask for an old cd and they'd pull it from the car, hand it over, no questions asked.
They are a band's band, a people's band, a working class band! An electrician and two college grads, all still working full time jobs just trying to survive makes them even more identifiable on top of their music which so screams "WE ARE YOU!" Having played countless benefit shows, elementary schools, birthday parties, music showcases, events, and even a roller derby halftime show, the energy and love for their craft exude presence on stage. Whether its to five or five-hundred people, they are truly a sight to see.
In the long run, Silk Flamingo and the Beat hope to venture outside of El Paso, Tx and see what possibly lay ahead for them.
Having a better than average local response and just a longer than normal local band run in a world where the local band turnover rate is high, these guys are here to stay and stay together! Their loyalty to their fans as well as each-other is an added bonus of adoration for what one wants in a rock band. And its pretty much something like SFB, or pretty darn close!

Trains
Silk Flamingo and the Beat Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And I'll meet you at the station
You can be there by 4:30
'Cause I've made your reservation
Don't be slow
Oh no no no, oh no no no
'Cause I'm leaving in the morning
We'll have one more night together
'Til the morning brings my train
And I must go
Oh no no no, oh no no no
And I don't know if I'm ever coming home
Take the last train to Clarksville
I'll be waiting at the station
We'll have time for coffee flavored kisses
And a bit of conversation
Oh no no no, oh no no no
Take the last train to Clarksville
Now I must hang up the phone
I can't hear you in this
Noisy railroad station all alone
I'm feeling low
Oh no no no, oh no no no
And I don't know if I'm ever coming home
Take the last train to Clarksville,
And I'll meet you at the station,
You can be here by four-thirty,
'Cause I've made your reservation, don't be slow,
Oh, no, no, no,
Oh, no, no, no,
And I don't know if I'm ever coming home.
Take the last train to Clarksville,
Take the last train to Clarksville,
Take the last train to Clarksville,
Take the last train to Clarksville.
The lyrics to Silk Flamingo and The Beat's song "Trains" tells the story of a person who needs to leave in the morning and is asking their significant other to take the last train to Clarksville to be with them one last time before they go. The urgency and the sorrow in the lyrics are evident as the singer emphasizes the time and the importance of the last meeting. The longing and the uncertainty expressed in the lyrics are emotional and relatable, making the song a timeless classic.
