Silkk rose to fame in the mid-to-late 1990s, releasing records through Master P's label, No Limit Records. His self-titled debut, The Shocker, was released in 1996. Silkk was featured on Master P's 1998 hit, "Make 'Em Say Uhhh!" and had a minor rap hit with his own single that same year, "It Ain't My Fault," featuring label-mate Mystikal. Silkk also performed with R&B singer Mya on the second single released from her self-titled debut album, "Movin' On." In 1999, Mya and Silkk collaborated on the lead single from his album "Made Man." The track, titled "Somebody Like Me," went on to become one of the year's top-selling singles on the Billboard charts. Since then, Silkk has released two additional solo albums: "My World, My Way" in 2001 and "Based On A True Story" in 2004. Neither release generated the same success he enjoyed in the late 1990s. Silkk was also featured on World Wrestling Entertainment's Wreckless Intent album, which was released on May 23, 2006. The song he performed on the album, I'm Comin', has since been used as the theme song for SmackDown! wrestler M.V.P. Silkk also performed former SmackDown! wrestler Orlando Jordan's theme song, Do It Big.

Dear God, I know I'm wrong sometimes but
Who are they to judge me
Cause umm...he who don't sin should cast the first stone
[Chorus]
Dear God, Forgive me for my sins
Cause all I wanted to do in this world was to win
All my soldiers, that's blowing with the wind, life is hard
Dear God, Forgive me for my sins
Cause all I wanted to do in this world was to win
To all my soldiers in the grave or the pen
All my soldiers, that's blowing with the wind, life is hard
I ain't got time to worry about who hate me or love me
Why would I care how a nigga feel when only god can judge me
I know I deserve 5 mics for how hard I strive
But I'm cool cause I really only need one mic like Nas
and I ain't got time to worry about whether my foes is mad
Got bigger problems, should the color of my cars or clothes be black
If you really want to understand me, then just come with me
Then you really understand why I keep the gun with me
Only way to make money, if you slung rocks
Rap was the hot shit, you had to have a jumpshot
Look, I try but my shots was off
I stay fly, stay driving something new on the block, y'all
It don't take a rocket scientist if you can add
I never had a job figuring out you do the math
Tell my nigga I had a fight with, I never told you I was starving
What's the rush, I figure I could just tell you tomorrow
But tomorrow never came, well it came but you wasn't around
I know God took you but I know you still looking down
You know I do this for the ones that ain't got no choice
I speak the truth for the ones who ain't got a voice, let's go
[Chorus]
The lyrics to Silkk The Shocker's song "Forgive Me" centers around the singer's hope for forgiveness for his sins. From the outset, he addresses a higher power, admitting that he is wrong sometimes, but feels that he shouldn't be judged by others because nobody is without sin. The singer then speaks to his "soldiers," those who have either died or are currently imprisoned, imploring them to understand his sins, and why he does what he does. The singer doesn't have time to worry about what others think of him and his actions because only God can judge him. He believes he is deserving of great success and is content with his current level of fame, with just one mic like Nas. He recognizes the difficulties he has faced in life, being forced into selling drugs to make money and improve his situation. The singer mentions a friend whom he had a fight with, and even though he didn't tell them he was "starving," he had hoped to speak to them the next day but was unable. He ends the song acknowledging that he speaks for those who have no voice.
