Lullaby
Simi Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You'll fall asleep with your head on the grass
And your eyes so heavy, they'll weight you down when you laugh
You ran to me and said "baby can't rest I told
You no one in this world has either, we're blessed

I know you struggle to see it
Sometimes and you struggle to sleep at night
But just know, I'm watching over you... Ooo
You lay and stare at the wall
Enough troubles to trouble us all
But just know, I'm feeling it too... Ooo

I was wondering if you'd like to come inside
And sit with me so I don't die
I love you so and I'll never let you go And
May the Lord be with you, no matter where you go

I know you struggle to see it
Sometimes and you struggle to sleep at night
But just know, I'm watching over you... Ooo
You lay and stare at the wall
Enough troubles to trouble us all

But just know, I'm watching over you... Ooo
I'm feeling it too... Oodo

Overall Meaning

Simi's song Lullaby is a heart-warming ballad where the singer is taking care of someone who is going through a tough time. In the first verse, Simi paints a vivid image of the person lying down, exhausted, with their head on the grass, and their eyes so heavy that they weigh them down when they laugh. It's clear that they are physically and emotionally drained, and in need of rest.

In the chorus, Simi tells the person that she is watching over them and feeling their pain too. She acknowledges that sometimes it's difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and they struggle to sleep at night. But, as their friend, Simi assures them that they are not alone, and that they will get through it together.

The second verse reinforces this message, with Simi inviting the person into her home and telling them she loves them and will never let them go. The song ends with Simi asking the Lord to be with the person no matter where they go. The lullaby is a beautiful display of unconditional love and support during difficult times, and it's easy to see why it's such an emotionally resonant song.
