Radioactive
Simmons Gene Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You're my food, you're my water
You've got to be the Devil's daughter
Can't get near, can't get far
You've got the power, you know who you are

She's radioactive, she's very selective
She's what I need, she's so pretty indeed
She wants it all the time

An' I'm crazy, kind of hazy
I'm not sorry, got no worry
I'm not lonely, she's my only
She's got me eatin' out of her hand

She's radioactive, she's very selective
She's what I need, she's so pretty indeed
I've gotta make her mine

She's radioactive, she's very selective
She's what I need, she's so pretty indeed
I've gotta make her mine

She's radioactive, she's very selective
She's what I need, she's so pretty indeed
I've gotta make her mine

She's my little baby, she's such a lady
She knows how I feel, she knows that it's real
She wants it all the time

She's radioactive, she's very selective
She's what I need, she's so pretty indeed
I've gotta make her mine

She's my little baby, she's such a lady

She knows how I feel, she knows that it's real
She wants it all the time

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Simmons Gene’s song Radioactive describe a woman who is irresistible and all-consuming to the singer. He compares her to his basic needs like food and water, implying that she is vital to his existence. The line “you’ve got to be the Devil’s daughter” suggests that she is dangerously attractive and possibly destructive. Despite his awareness of her power over him, he is unable to resist her charms, describing her as “very selective” and “what I need.”

The chorus repeats the description of the woman as “radioactive” and “very selective,” words that suggest danger and power. The singer acknowledges that being with her has made him “crazy” and “kind of hazy,” implying that he may lose control when he is around her. The line “she’s got me eating out of her hand” further emphasizes the degree to which he is under her control. Despite this, he describes her as his “little baby” and “such a lady,” suggesting that he is willing to be subservient to her if it means he can be with her.

Overall, the lyrics of Radioactive convey the singer's infatuation and obsession with a woman who is both alluring and potentially dangerous. He recognizes her hold over him but cannot resist her appeal, suggesting a sense of fatalism in his attraction to her.

If Kiss made an album made of 9 songs from the solo albums (instead of releasing solo albums) My choices:
1) Radioactive - Simmons
2) Speedin' back to my baby - Frehley
3) Rip it out - Frehley
4) Ozone - Frehley
5) Livin' in sin - Simmons
6) Snow blind - Frehley
7) I'm in need of love - Frehley
8) New York groove - Frehley
9) Wiped Out - Frehley
That's right, no Paul Stanley or Peter Criss songs.

I absolutely love this song. If it was on a regular Kiss album like Destroyer or Love Gun it would've been a hit.

@taterichardson4161

Absolutely

@AustinAaq

Same with new York groove... oh yeah lol

@buttkid3548

Agreed

@YungMisfit20

@@calebleo8159 New York groove was a major hit though. The only one that came from the solo albums. Everybody from back then heard that song

@tgnomechaser

I was 9 year old kid when these solo albums came out. I was also a very obsessed KISS fan. With that said, as a kid on these releases, I was very satisfied with each album. THE END!!!

@jamesbermingham7259

Me too. I thought all 4 were and are phenomenal

@Supertron1

One of my favorite songs from the Kiss solo albums. I suspect that Gene Simmons designed the intro to troll the critics and activists who were accusing the band of being satanic and including hidden messages in their songs.

@thomaskemer8109

I was 11, it scared the crap out of me!

@heftosprod

Or perhaps his typical grandiose expression. Either way.. it's fun... Particularly to kids!
