Flowers Never Bend with the Rainfall
Simon & Garfunkel Lyrics

Through the corridors of sleep
Past shadows dark and deep
My mind dances and leaps in confusion
I don't know what is real
I can't touch what I feel
And I hide behind the shield of my illusion

So I'll continue to continue to pretend
My life will never end
And flowers never bend
With the rainfall

The mirror on my wall
Casts an image dark and small
But I'm not sure at all it's my reflection
I am blinded by the light
Of God and truth and right
And I wander in the night without direction

So I'll continue to continue to pretend
My life will never end
And flowers never bend
With the rainfall

No matter if you're born
To play the King or pawn
For the line is thinly drawn 'tween joy and sorrow
So my fantasy
Becomes reality
And I must be what I must be and face tomorrow

So I'll continue to continue to pretend
My life will never end
And flowers never bend
With the rainfall

One of the singles that was in the house during my early childhood. I was just thinking about those days, and had pulled up "I Am a Rock", which I have heard often enough since then.

But then I thought, what was the B-side to that single and had to look it up on Discogs. And here it is, "Flowers Never Bend From the Rainfall".

Not often you get songs from two different albums on the same single.

5 mins ago, I had no conscious memory of this song, but as it started to play, memories started to come back. A strange combination of re-establishing familiarity and a profound sense of unease, like reality was becoming a little bent and changing around me.

Now I realise that I am hearing the lyrics for the first time, not literally, but with understanding (as I was 4-5 years old the last time I heard them).

Flowers Never Bend with The Rainfall
Simon & Garfunkel
Produced by Bob Johnston
Album: Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme

[Verse 1]
Through the corridors of sleep
Past shadows dark and deep
My mind dances and leaps in confusion
I don't know what is real
I can't touch what I feel
And I hide behind the shield of my illusion

[Chorus]
So I'll continue to continue to pretend
My life will never end
And flowers never bend
With the rainfall

[Verse 2]
The mirror on my wall
Casts an image dark and small
But I'm not sure at all it's my reflection
I'm blinded by the light
Of God and truth and right
And I wander in the night without direction

[Chorus]
So I'll continue to continue to pretend
My life will never end
And flowers never bend
With the rainfall

[Verse 3]
No matter if you're born
To play the king or pawn
For the line is thinly drawn 'tween joy and sorrow
So my fantasy
Becomes reality
And I must be what I must be and face tomorrow

[Chorus]
So I'll continue to continue to pretend
My life will never end
And flowers never bend
With the rainfall

"Continue to pretend my life will never end" - Isn't this what we all do? Trying, doing, making a life for ourselves despite the inevitability of death. Poignant lyrics

All we are is dust in the wind...you have a point

Easily one of my favorite songs lyrically. It's so existentially philosophical and depressing; those two things sadly seem to always walk hand in hand, don't they?

Tom Mara

Life is trying to live in a sick place

Saul Sepulveda

Hope you're still alive, but you're right they often go hand in hand, but once you let go of human hubris existential philosophy becomes an indescribably exquisite beauty.

Misfortune is in the eye of the beholder.

They do, my Pink friend. Try listening and thinking about an acid or shrooms experience- to me it's spot on.

Nat

This should be one of their popular songs.

I thought it was popular.
