Homeward Bound
Simon & Garfunkel Lyrics

I'm sittin' in the railway station
Got a ticket to my destination
On a tour of one-night stands
My suitcase and guitar in hand
And every stop is neatly planned
For a poet and a one-man band

Homeward bound
I wish I was
Homeward bound
Home where my thought's escapin'
Home where my music's playin'
Home where my love lies waitin'
Silently for me

Every day's an endless stream
Of cigarettes and magazines
And each town looks the same to me
The movies and the factories
And every stranger's face I see
Reminds me that I long to be

Homeward bound
I wish I was
Homeward bound
Home where my thought's escapin'
Home where my music's playin'
Home where my love lies waitin'
Silently for me

Tonight I'll sing my songs again
I'll play the game and pretend
But all my words come back to me
In shades of mediocrity
Like emptiness in harmony
I need someone to comfort me

Homeward bound
I wish I was
Homeward bound
Home where my thought's escapin'
Home where my music's playin'
Home where my love lies waitin'
Silently for me
Silently for me

Many a serviceman listened to this song in times past. This was music of my youth and my military career was much later than the Vietnam vets. However, I listened to this after spending 14 months in Bosnia and anticipating seeing my wife and children as I climbed on a C-130 headed to Germany. Funny how music makes indelible marks on our lives and brings back memories in vibrant color.

🙏My love to you and all our Veterans. Thank you. I keep you in my heart.

for me, music runs through my mind like so many mile markers on the road of life. it's like my own personal time machine that transports me back to a time or circumstance I can no longer reach any other way. it's the very definition of nostalgia.

kind of an anthem back in the day. hot as hell half a world away and hoping and praying when you're homeward bound it's not in a box.

God bless the fact you lived to feel how is was to finally get home.. many a time when I enjoyed it myself after being away so long..

"Like harmony in emptiness, I need someone to fix this mess."

@classickruzer1 Makes more sense than Bob Dylan lyrics anyway.

@Ben Pietrzykowski I think you would need to ask Paul Simon about that. I sure don't know.
